you see allan goldbergs stuff the last 5 weeks? They are in the barn cooled off and the check has been cashed before the other horses hit the wire.. Word is the Arizona Green Tea with soobee and honey is the new tonic of choice in the barn.

Yeah I noticed that. Arizona Green Tea haha...juicing on the cheap. How are the vets gonna make any extra money?

On a side note,AZ Green tea is made in New York. They were one of the companies that were told they would be boycotted because of the 1070 bill.

Maybe they can card Zenyatta to parade between races to draw a crowd of 12k.

Hollywood Park has cancelled its live racing program for Thursday July 8, because of insufficient entries, the third day of racing lost under such circumstances at the spring-summer meeting.

An ominous sign for?

A. California Horse racing
B. The state of the California economy
C. The state of horse racing
D. All of the above

Just A IMO.

There just isn't enough horses based in SoCal to run 5 days a week.

Honu 07-05-2010 09:27 PM

If they were smart and they arent they would just run 3 days a week....add a day here and there for holidays and such.

While I do think that would help, wonder how many people would drop out of the the game?

How do you pay the bills for 7 day a week training when there are 26 or so races run?

I'm not sure I follow the logic? If they dropped a few days they could run more races on the days that they did run. And since they seem to be having trouble with filling races wouldnt reducing the number of races seem logical? How many horses that want to run arent getting a chance to?

I don't know for sure. Probably the cost of stabling a horse in California, the surface issues, and no opportunity to poach runners from other circuits since they're basically on an island. People are still betting the product which means there could still be life.

If I were a trainer, though, that's where I'd want to be (if they went back to dirt.)
