3rd great filly from last year running today!

Goldikova. She's going for her 8th G1 in France.

I think she'll lose though.

She won it very comfortably from Byword - these two miles clear!!

Earlier on the card, Deluxe narrowly failed to give Super broodmare Hasili another G1 winner!!

Hope she stays in form until the Breeders' Cup.

TVG going to show the replay coming up, or so they teased.

Did I hear right in the call.....was that Stacelita not lifting a hoof?

my miss storm cat 05-23-2010 05:57 PM

She was 6th. Very surprising. :(

they changed tactics with her today (I think in an effort to avoid the 2 pacemakers!)- and it didnt work at all, she doesnt have a turn of foot and didnt pick up when asked for an effort.

I was actually watching the race beside Simon Crisford of Godolphin fame at The Curragh - i told him if they were looking for a horse to buy, Goldi would do OK for them :)

What a monster.

They could ruin her in no time

so i read the article and it said this was her first start of the year. do the euros usually not start the year with "warm-up" races? it seems that she didn't have a problem going into a big race without one. is there a reason why american horses start off with one?

I think maybe because they are able to train differently there than here by having a lot of long up and down hill gallops and "mock" races or trials with other stable mates.

Just a guess though.

Her record as a broodmare is beyond ridiculous, and Deluxe is adding to it this year. What are the odds of one mare producing that many outstanding horses?

Meant to reply to this earlier, but this race, even though it was a G1 was essentially a prep for the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot. She's likely to face off against Rip Van Winkle and Paco Boy there which IMO would make it her toughest race to date- it will be something to look forward to!

Consider it her Vanity.

No, this RVW is running on his preferred surface and without foot problems.

Not to mention on his regular continent....six thousand miles from Zenyatta's home base.

Plus, he won't have to fly over those dang Rockies.
