WASHINGTON - Mike Huckabee, a possible Republican presidential candidate in 2012, says the effort to allow gays and lesbians to marry is comparable to legalizing incest, polygamy and drug use.

Huckabee told the interviewer that not every group's interests deserve to be accommodated, if their lifestyle is outside of what he called "the ideal."

"I feel homosexuality is an aberrant, unnatural, and sinful lifestyle," he wrote, in response to a question about gays in the military.

He also advocated isolating AIDS patients from the general public, saying it was necessary to confine "carriers of this plague."

Chances are slim to none that he'll ever be president now that his quotations are getting attention.

He's too extreme when it comes to gay rights issues to be a factor, even if people agree with his economic plans.

That could possibly be John Candy. A shame he died so early when he still had some years left.

brianwspencer 04-14-2010 09:42 AM

And the hilarious part is that in his most recent interview, he tried to call out the journalist for twisting his words...and then they released the full un-edited audio, and it turns out that what he said is exactly what they claimed he did in the first place.

The fact that he hides what's more or less blind hatred behind aw shucks folksy attitudes and then tries to backtrack from his own comments by blaming someone else when they make the news is just awesome.

He sucks...and the idea of him as President, or being in charge of anything terrifies me.

It wouldn't be so sad if it wasn't for the fact that over 4 million Republican-primary voters actually voted for the guy.

Yeah that's scary and sad. 4 million is a huge percentage of the population. Maybe we should kill them or censor them or something.

Jesus christ liberals are natural pu.ssies.

You took "so sad," and turned it into "Maybe we should kill them or censor them or something." This intentional distortion is not a valid point, or argument of any sort. Once you've distorted the facts, you then turn to distraction ("Jesus christ liberals are natural pu.ssies.") Why can't you simply talk about the subject at hand? Is it because your view is hard to support with an argument? Doesn't hold water?

Was Huck's opinion (on these issues) well known during the Presidential Election?

It's no wonder all jockeys are Christian.

It's like a subset of tards within the larger tard community.

SCUDSBROTHER 04-14-2010 05:44 PM

Doesn't just about every overweight American have a lifestyle that's not "ideal." We certainly don't limit fat people from marrying, and making more fat people. His state is good at that.

I'll quote both posters the next time just to help the slow people out. I'll also put sarcasm tags.

Slow? Your the one using tired rhetorical devices to make it easier for you to attack people (instead of simply writing about the subject of the thread.)

My point is if you think Huckabee is going to make one bit of difference in your personal life then you're a moron and should be wiped off the face of the earth.

You're no different than Nascar being afraid of Obama.

Obama Orders Hospital Visitation Rights For Gay, Lesbian Couples
First Posted: 04-15-10 08:55 PM | Updated: 04-15-10 10:12 PM

WASHINGTON (AP)- President Barack Obama is issuing a directive he says will make it easier for hospital patients, particularly gays and lesbians, to receive visitors and choose who will make medical decisions on their behalf.

Obama is asking the Health and Human Services secretary to begin the process of putting in place federal rules to ensure that hospitals respect the rights of patients to designate visitors. The order covers hospitals receiving Medicare or Medicaid.

Under Obama's directive, those designated, including people with powers of attorney and health care proxies, are to have visitation privileges equal to immediate family members.

Obama says gays and lesbians and other Americans have been barred from the bedsides of their partners or loved ones.

Thats really nice , so this means the feds are going to recognize domestic partnerships? Its pretty simple to get into see someone in the hospital , I have been there many times and somehow all my friends have managed to get into see me. So does this mean that if my gf gets in car accident in a state that doesnt recognize domestic partnerships I will get into to see her even though I dont have power of attorney or a health care proxy? So if she is in a coma how does she make a list of people who are allowed to see her ?
Freaking smoke and mirrors is what it is. He is reaching out to all the homo's that voted him in me not being one of them with something that is pure b.s.

Are you usually asked if you are gay or straight when you go visit someone in the hospital????

in particularly dire situations, you're asked if you're family.

hi_im_god 04-16-2010 09:21 PM

it's not directly on point but lyndon johnson used a similar executive order to force desegregation on hospitals in the 60's.

No, but under increased patient privacy laws, it has become more and more difficult for non-blood relations, non-spouse to be at a seriously ill person's bedside.

The above is seriously good stuff. A person's same-sex partner may have the health care proxie, but not be allowed to be at bedside because they are not "immediate family" (if the patient isn't conscious, etc)

Honu 04-16-2010 11:41 PM

My question still is do the feds recognize domestic partnerships now?
