Do not eff with West Virginians...
 

So, everyone's favorite hate-mongers, the Westboro Baptist Church (most notable for showing up at the funerals of Iraq war veterans to scream about how God hates gays), thought they'd head to the memorial for the West Virginia miners and scream about how the mine explosion was God's punishment for the USA's growing tolerance for homosexuality. Because, uh, yeah, WHAT?

Anyway, the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the state AFL-CIO and assorted churches and community groups sprang into action and launched a huge counter protest and mocked and harassed those hateful morons all the way back to Kansas. My favorite political blogger (and West Virginia resident), John Cole, had this to say about it:

"Other states might stage peaceful counter-protests or sing songs about unity, but you pricks come to WV spewing your bile and we’ll follow you around making large farty sounds and have our rednecks with mullets and big dips of Copenhagen scream bible verses at you while threatening you and telling you to get back home. Get your weak **** out of here."
