Proving Who You Are
So, I go to get my Florida driver's liscense. I have all the required stuff since I have a valid Ohio driver's liscense and they, state of Florida, require extra stuff for someone getting a Florida Liscense from out of state.
Well, since my mother used her maiden last name on my Birth Certificate instead of my fathers, who was kinda not in the picture at the time, which I ended up using all of my life, well you get the idea. It was a common law marriage and I was known by my current last name from starting school, thru jobs, thru college, thru Social Security, IRS, etc etc. The same name as on my social security card, my driver's liscense everything except birth certificate. My mother even overnighted me her court papers from the divorce that show my full legal name but the Florida BMV will not budge. I gotta shell out ANOTHER $400, $407 court costs to be exact for the name change AND hire an attorney because if I don't have an attorney the name change will take up to 3 months, meaning I would not be able to drive legally for close to 2, meaning job loss. Well, I got an attorney, and it was not as bad as I thought. Less then court costs. $400 for a Florida liscense plate, now this man it never ends. I am changing my name legally to what I have been all my life. |
I am thinking of changing my name to Clyde...

Would they honor a US Passport? Would be cheaper for you to get, and you should be able to get it with the DL and SS at your local PO.
