Crescent Moon

Here are some pictures of Crescent Moon, Paul Giacopelli's (pgiaco) horse. Also ran on Saturday in the 5th race. Looked like there was some run late. First time at the races for this one.

Great photos Michelle. Thanks for sharing those. I think better things are ahead for this guy if he ever gets his head straight in the gate.

pgiaco, pretty nice run today. Doesn't look like the turf was an issue at all. Hope he came back well

Wally, "Crescent Moon" handled the turf well enough, the starting gate, well not so much. He's had gate issues from the very beginning, hoping he eventually gets over it. Came back full of himself and we are looking forward to his next start.

Never tried it myself with a particular horse, but quite a few have reported success using 3-5 sessions on an underwater treadmill to help train fretful or worried horses to better tolerate the confinement of a gate (with handlers looming, etc). Same confinement, but different, more relaxing situation. Something to consider if you have one readily available locally.

Thanks for the input, Riot. Not sure its the confinement that bothers him because half the time in the morning he walks in fine, stands fine, breaks fine. But sometimes he won't go in, or tries to sit down like a dog or worse be a gentleman going in and standing, then make a right turn when he breaks. We think he might be half a goofball who just has no idea what he's doing....and he will eventually learn the game.

Dang. I thought the St. George medal always worked ... have an Irishman whisper in the left ear. Keeneland is still running, I'm sure you can still find a few downtown! :D
