Gomez Fined, Espo suspended.

Jockey Victor Espinoza has received a three-day suspension for his riding in the Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) April 3, while Garrett Gomez was fined $750 for punching Espinoza afterward.

Meanwhile, trainer Bob Baffert, who described Gomez's ride aboard the 4-5 favorite, Lookin At Lucky, as "horrendous," said he would allow Gomez to continue to ride his colt. Lookin At Lucky is expected to be a leading contender in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) at Churchill Downs May 1.

Espinoza's suspension begins April 11. California Horse Racing Board stewards at Santa Anita Park handed down the penalties April

Since when is punching someone else in the face not a crime? I thought that was assault:zz: I could care less if he got arrested but I would like to live in that world where I could punch someone in the face without fear of be arrested. I have a long list of people I would put on their azz!!!;)

Not only is it a crime, but since when does assaulting another jock not carry a suspension? A $750 fine slap on the wrist? A little favoritism since Gomez is riding one of the Derby favorites?

Probably just trying to keep Gomez in California as long as they possibly can.

Espinoza doesn't deserve 3 days.

the_fat_man 04-05-2010 11:14 AM

How about we line up:

1) Gomez
2) Espinoza
3) all of the Bazes
4) Patrick Husbands
5) Daniel Centeno
6) Channing Hill
etc.

And I get to wear a really nice, pointy pair of cowboy boots and have a couple of hours to put my boot in each of their asses.

Now, this is a REALITY SHOW that would definitely sell.

Put a BOOT in the ASS of a ******.

how many days do you think he should get? What he did was worse than punching someone.

bigjag0716 04-06-2010 02:09 AM

The should ban him from racing. :) Just Kidding.

I know Victor messed up, but I was kind of hoping to hear that Gomez got knocked out. I really can't stand the guy.

espinoza would have to call the cops in order for them to do something about it. if espinoza took offense to the punch, he should have defended himself. sorry, i think cops have better things to do then worry about a jock hitting another.

This makes me wonder... has a jockey ever been assaulted by someone upset over something they did on a horse. I'm not talking about jock on jock.

More like a jockey does something the opposite of trainer instructions and when the jock is bringing the horse back to get unsaddled the trainer doesn't wait for him to dismount, he pulls him off the horse and starts smacking him around.

Really? I like that thought process. Thanks for letting me know out to get away with jacking someone in the head. Hey no offense or anything but BAMMMMMMMM@#^@^#@** I wonder how many people would actually take offense if I said no offense first???

At least Gomez had the balls to face Victor when he punched him, Victor sucker punched Bejarano last year at Del Mar over a DQ, Bejarano never even saw it coming, what goes around comes around.

Most guys are not such complete pussies that they would feel the need to involve the police.

And those that did, deserve the punch.
