... the former New Orleans Police Chief has confessed that he purposely lied to the media ... about the whacko claims of child rapes, shot-down helicopters, and rampant violence ... just to get them off his back ... but ...

... because his cowardly lies were spread so wide ... by the complicit and gullible "journalists" ... like Shemp Smith and Whoraldo and the whole CNN/BBC hyena pack ... rescuers and aid workers were afraid to enter the flood area ...

... which in fact was perfectly safe.

And yet ... and yet ... the gullible and the chumps to this day still drone the tired mantra ... "It was Bush's fault!"

If that was the case then we should just give up and let the terrorists win because our leaders are mentally ****ing retarded to not help the people of New Orleans because of rumors from the media.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the police chief was in way over his head and oversensationalizing to try and get anyone to come and help. Remember that at least a third of the NOPD abandoned the city. Days had passed and no help from the federal or state government. What would you do in his situation?

I went to New Orleans a couple months ago to visit a good friend who was ill and it's like nothing I've seen ... and this was 9 months after the hurricane.

The place still looks like the ruins of some kind of science fiction movie. Everyone, the mayor, police chief, Brownie, Bush, everyone was in over their heads. I suppose people can point fingers and blamestorm and that's a natural reaction in our highly politicized times but I don't see how you can prevent something that you cannot imagine happening.

If you've never been through a hurricane, you're not missing anything good. We had Wilma go through our neighborhood last year and the only way I can describe it is to say the sound is as if a train is running past your front door, except the train is six hours long and durng that time you can feel your home being hit by sections of your neighbors' houses that have been ripped away.

We were not able to evacuate due to elder care issues and while we were out of power for 12 days we were fortunate to have a generator as well as food, water, cash and gasoline. While my wife took care of her 85 yo father, I spent the better part of 10 days helping in the community. It was incredibly disheartening to see the devestating effect the hurricane had on the poor and the elderly.

To me, that's the story, not who is to blame for it happening.

Funny...my "liberal" media kept me informed about that the entire time. There were several reports about how safety concerns were being completely overexaggerated by officials on the ground...so you can't blame the whole press corps for that (but Geraldo, yes. Who let him be a journalist, anyway?!).

Yeah, it is amazing what you actually learn when you watch something other than Fox News.

I have to say that I have this thing where I want to see a tornado up close and personal and also go through a hurricane...Maybe i will come down and chill with you Bruce for like two months during hurrican season next year, we can go yell at jockeys at Calder all day

Thank you so much for posting this, S2S. I live in Central Florida and had the "privilege" of going through 4 hurricanes. They are no fun at all and the devastation caused is irreversible. It would be nice if people could learn to understand that if they spent as much time HELPING as they do pointing fingers, we'd all be better off.

Everyone wants someone to blame. Honestly? I left town when Francis came through my area. I knew I had to repair my house (new siding) before Francis so I wanted to make sure I was safe as I didn't know if my house was. THEN another one came. I am happy to report got my house siding done about five months after those hurricanes. Stayed through Wilma.

Come for the Calder, skip the hurricane.

Yeah...they are not alot of fun at all. Been through a couple and they were enough to last me a lifetime.

Seriously scavs, I wouldn't wish a hurricane and its aftermath on anyone, not even my worst enemy.

is a T-Storm warning.....Carbondale had some pretty serious storms which was always a good time , get some tornados down there but never within sight range..I am a huge fan of weather and what mother nature can create, like I have considered moving to Cali just to feel an earthquake

I suggest that when you come down here, we do a 1/2 day deep sea fishing outing and take in some mother nature that way. Atlantic, cold ones and catch/release a critter or two. Beats spending 6 hours in a hurricane.

How much does that cost down there? I am SO DOWN with some deep sea fishing, I am sure you got the connects for it also

Figure $125-$150 per person + tip + food/drink. Figure $200 total. Go out at 7:00 am. Back in by 11:30. Just in time to get to class.
