Streaker

Did he ever ask her to run?

booner 03-27-2010 04:26 PM

Streakers usually run. On the field, through the Quad........:D

Gaelic Storm 03-27-2010 07:13 PM

I don't think she was ever asked but the time of the race was not very fast. Md claimers went faster a few races earlier. Visually very impressive.

Thats ok though...It was only her second career start, and a lot of times the flashy maiden winners bomb first time vs winners. Shes bred to run all day and was close to the early pace...
The 3 yr old fillies are nothing special and Im guessing shes at the top of the class before the end of the year.

Acorn is the dream spot for CD, a little break and cut back will do her good.

What is it with well-bred Phipps horses? I mean, why does everyone so desperately want them to be good then when they're not they pretend like they are?

Shug McGaughey is a nice guy and a good trainer but he must have some cult following in a vacuum that's released when one of his horses runs. I mean, who the hell bet Distinctively in the Ladies on Saturday? It's always good to take a filly eligible for a N1X in a race like that. Now Streaker comes along, beats a terrible maiden field then CRAWLS around the track on Saturday beating a very poor N1X field and it's supposed to look good because "she was never asked."

Here's a question for you, what's higher, Streaker's Beyer for Saturday or the forecasted high temperature at Aqueduct on Friday according to weather.com?

I am a fan of the history and tradition that Phipps stable is all about. We don't have to worry about Phipps selling a BIG horse to a Sheik or a Syndicate. They sell marginal horses that they do not wish to campaign or cull mares that they don't feel they need to continue operations. It's the silks that people root for not unlike being a Yankee fan.. You don't take a jugs gun to Joba's fast ball you just hope that he performs well.

I don't trust GP's timers ever.. Last year all the bloated figs horses never replicated there GP form thru the year. The race had a very fast opening 1/4 of like 23 ish..Lots of races with much more accomplished horses have had first 1/4's of 25ish.. She may suck but that 71 just doesn't seem right at all at least in my mind and to my eye??

I suppose I shouldn't complain because the people that like the history and tradition continue to absolutely pound these horses at the windows.

If you don't trust the time, get out a sundial and re-time it.

I like a Forest Wildcat that's "bred to run all day".
