There will probably be more of these. Unfotunately, a sign of the times which is affecting all walks of life, not just racing. People are going broke right now.

i'm sure there have been...i never understood the buyback of vallenzeri at that price, and then being forced to sell-and getting far less second time around.

Sure it's a dramatic plunge, but did that accurately reflect what others were willing to pay for the horse anyway? I gathered that it wasn't that high purely from active bidders. If that's not accurate, somebody let me know, but folks insinuated it was kind of artificial. Not so artificial that he was bought for what he might've gone for before the market stumbled, but still, not $7+million either.
