I noticed Repole moved several to Pletcher, hopefully they don't go that route too..
Tim did an excellent job with Summer Bird. |
Pletcher is currently in The Empire Strikes Back mode

DRF:Summer Bird being moved to new barn
By Mary Rampellini Trainer Tim Ice has been informed that he is being relieved of his duties as the trainer of champion Summer Bird as well as 24 other horses owned by K.K. and Vilasini Jayaraman. Ice, who is based at Oaklawn, said the loss of the horses will reduce his stable from 31 head to six. It puts me almost out of business, Ice said. K.K. Jayaraman said Tuesday morning he will be moving the horses, but a final decision on a new trainer has not yet been made. I haven t decided anything yet, he said. Ice said he believes a slow start to the meet, where he is 2 for 15, and a colt suffering a condylar fracture during a morning workout Sunday at Oaklawn led to the Jayaraman s decision. K.K. Jayaraman said there has been a breakdown in communication between he and Ice. Ice said he did not know where Summer Bird would be headed. Jayaraman, who has trained in the past himself, has had a number of trainers through the years. I m just another trainer in a long line he s hired and fired, Ice said. But I do have empty stalls, and I m looking for new clients. |
the guy is a proven good trainer. i hope he gets some more clients soon.

Most of Jayaraman's horses seem to be home breds with very below average pedigrees. You would have to have some very special oats to be doing any better then Ice has been doing with those horses. Good Luck to Tim, I hope you bounce back on your feet.

Doctors...two of them...retired with more money than sense and an air of entitlement which leads to meddlesome micromanagement. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.:zz:

They have gone through alot of trainers over the last decade or so. I hope Ice lands on his feet. He's a good young trainer and he certainly gave up alot to handle Summer Bird as he did all last year. Remember, he went where the colt went and missed the birth of his first child because of it. It shows a dedication to the game and the horse.
I read that Tim Ritchey is getting SB. Honestly, it seems that these owners may be more trouble then they are worth for the "Big Name" guys to bother with. It's not like they have a plethora of fabulously bred young horses every year. |
I hope he gets an owner or 2 that has patiemce and lets him do things his way instead of theirs.
