Mullins wants IEAH to pay him.. for Revenge's Wood win

This Lanzman-IEAH deal was quite a relationship...

Is any part of it NOT in litigation or dispute?

The Southern California stewards have scheduled a financial compliance hearing on Feb. 3 at Santa Anita to look into why the IEAH Stables has not paid trainer Jeff Mullins his share of the purse and other race-related expenses connected with I Want Revenge's victory in the Grade 1 Wood Memorial at Aqueduct last April.

According to Mike Marten, executive director of the California Horse Racing Board, the stewards have broad powers in financial matters, including the ability to suspend an owner's license. Though based in New York, IEAH does have a California owner's license.

Mullins said he sought the help of the California stewards after he said he got no assistance from the New York State Racing and Wagering Board, which he first contacted last August. New York board officials did not respond Monday to inquiries about this matter.

Mullins claims IEAH owes him $31,336.04 from the Wood, which includes $20,625 in purse earnings and the balance due in race-related expenses. Mullins said David Lanzman, who owns half of I Want Revenge along with IEAH, has paid him.

$11k for Air Power?

No question he should be paid his portion of the purse but I am curious to know about the $10000+ in "race related expenses".

Flights, transporting the horse, etc. I'd have to imagine that is what it is - every other horse trainer charges their owners for these types of expenses.

Total aside, but you know you're not good people if even Jeff Mullins is claiming foul for something or other you've done.

I don't know why Mullins would be paying for the flight especially for an outfit that regularly flys horses.

I would travel with a bodyguard too

Sightseek 02-03-2010 01:13 PM

Mullins settled with IEAH and IEAH is working on buying out the rest of Lanzman's interest of IWR to send to Dutrow soon:

randallscott35 02-03-2010 01:15 PM

Good news, I was getting worried.

The Bid 02-03-2010 01:36 PM

Kinda tough not to. Lanzman paper work flawless.

Sightseek 02-03-2010 01:50 PM

It's kind of curious that IEAH is trying to buy up the same horse they filed a countersuit about.

The Bid 02-03-2010 02:04 PM

They probably don't want the entire truth coming out. Lanzman and mullins just want their money. If you need a bodyguard in horseracing you are banging the wrong guys too often.

At least be bad enough to handle your own business. I'm going to hire a bodyguard for tonight. I'm going to dinner and jumping somebodies reservations.

alysheba4 02-03-2010 03:11 PM

does that horse have a shot at coming back?
