The 1st race at Beulah today

is a $5,800 MSW race.

A first time European import Empress of France is entered. She's a 4-year-old by Storm Cat out of a Mr. Prospector mare. She's also a half sibling to undefeated multiple Group 1 winner Fasliyev.

Her most recent start was Aug of 2009 in Ireland when she was 3rd of 11 at 3/5 odds for Aiden O' Brien. Back in the 2nd start of her career she was 4th of 8 in a Group 3 stake.

She's coupled with another Jim Corrigan horse .. and I'd bet anything she scratches and the other part of the entry goes.

The 3/1 second choice on the ML is 11-0-0-0 lifetime - has made less than 2K in career earnings - and was beaten 9 lengths at 120/1 odds in a 10K MCL at Turfway last time out.

The 7/2 third choice on the ML is a horse that has made two career starts - both at Mountaineer. Showed no early speed and was crushed both times - running Beyers of 0 and 8.

Goofy stuff. I wish they ran more than 4 harness tracks on Tuesday.

Nice way to start the early Pic 3. The 1 horse in the second Josy's Gold looks like she might be rounding into form...plus you get blinks on.

Wow ... if I got a single reply from this thread I expected it to come in the form of something like this.....

How can she bend her back like that? Oh the talent :D

All of a sudden this thread has some potential.

Sorry Drugs...don't know how to do the whole picture thing. Now about that Pic 3.

Just Kidding

I tried playing Beulah again yesterday. What is the worst part about Beulah racing...the horses, the jocks, or the track?

part of what sucks is this horse went off at 1/5 and ran 3rd, which means you cant tell which horses are feeling ok enough to run that day and which ones just want to lay down and die.

Duvalier 01-19-2010 01:25 PM

I knew that the blinkers would help the #1...much improved effort. Only got beat 32 3/4 today...last time at this same distance ended up 56 3/4 back. Next time.

How in the hell did this thread end up in selections?

I was wondering the same thing.

Beulah is the "Graveyard of Favorites".

Literally.

Exactly.

Imagine you owned a Storm Cat/Mr. Prospector filly that's a half to a multiple Group 1 winner ... nice residual value there ... how bad would that horse have to be training for you to even consider shipping to Beulah and running for a less than 6k purse?

The stunning thing was that the horse wasn't scratched.

The lack of hotties in this thread was a let down.

I'd imagine it was all about trying to say she is a "winner" for catalog and produce purposes. I can't imagine that there could have been softer spot to accomplish that goal.

Most horses feel fine until they read "Beulah Park" on top of the gate, then they get nervous. The ones shipping from MTR know whats up.
