Fanny Freud...interesting. Never seen John Terranova start a horse out in California, have you?

Makes sense that he maybe should do this more often seeing him and his wife are best friends with the Bafferts.

Thoughts? Is he good enough?

She.. Apparently is working great. Baffert has indeed been handling.

It's a terrific field though.

Why does Pletcher go to the California Derby with Connemara, when he can get graded earnings against a 5 horse field on a surface he already won over?

Good question. Is it possible he just wants him to go 8.5 rather than the mile? That is the only think I can think of, although given that there will be plenty of opportunities at 8.5 in the months ahead, I'm not sure how much sense that reason would make.
All in all it seems like the San Rafael would make more sense.

Edit: He would be the longest shot in the race and is significantly slower (per the Beyer numbers) off his last. Makes sense now I guess

Conveyance has apparently been sold to a relative of Sheik Mohammed; listed as owned by Zabeel Racing.

Conveyance Sold!!!

Thoroughbred Legends has sold Conveyance to Sheikh Rashid al-Maktoum's Zabeel Racing. Will stay with Baffert in California.

Shipping to Dubai for the Festival?

Of all of that money they have spent at auction in the past year or two this was the only horse that could run.

Franny Freud

This is a nice race!!

Fyi, John Terranova trains Negligee who raced in the recent Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita.

Franny Freud just outlasted Negligee in the Ontario Debutante Stakes at Woodbine back in August.

I must say I am quite dismayed.

Thankfully it will stay with Baffert at least at not end up in the incompetent hands of Harty or that weird mumbling gibberish speaking guy.

I believe he won the Hollywood Starlet with Laragh in 2008.

Papa Clem stretching back to two turns here after the good comebacker in the Malibu looks terrific to me. Using Mythical Power with him.

Fried? What are you talking about Freddy? He came back from a 90 day break with a very solid Malibu. And he's worked fabulously since.

randallscott35 01-15-2010 09:40 AM

I really want to bet Mr. Hot Stuff in this race and it makes me feel like a bad person.

I thought the Malibu spot was ridiculous. Although my friends thought I was an idiot for suggesting it was a horrible spot. The horse has not stopped and Stute drilled him what like 5 days after the Malibu. When did the horse win last Purim? I thought getting him an allowance race around two turns against softer made a bunch more sense.Instead Stute races him in the Malibu? Why the Malibu, was winning a 7f race at 3 such a big deal? I would have thought getting him a win in the San Antonio and then maybe the better G1's as a handicap horse made more sense. Now he is back off a hurried "sort of layoff" and a big effort in the Malibu.. I think he is complete toast. My opinion is very unpopular among much smarter then I.. But I still think he is doomed..

Stute drilled him days after the Malibu? You think Stute found the Sheppard piece entertaining?

90 day break on a horse that shipped the globe and ran hard all of 09...How many of those 90 days did the horse really have to let down especially around his connections. I doubt the horse had 3 real weeks of R&R
