early nomination for worst ride of the year

F Jara on the #7 in the 2nd race yesterday at NY

It looked like he was playing bumper cars out on the belt pkwy the 1st 50 yrds of the race

Comes flying late , was much the best going wide , misses by 3/4 length

see i just don't bash Ramon

Ramon gives great rides more often than bad ones.

Jara...well, not much left to say.

Wasn't the horse a firster and doesn't that count for anything Marty?

sure , all that counts but it was still brutal , the horse was 10 lengths the best

I don't understand what was so bad about the ride, and I played her. She bobbled at the start, was a little wide and made a strong move in the stretch. She was a firster, sometimes the light doesn't go on right away. Plus who knows what instructions Jara got. Why do you think it was so brutal?

Garcia's impersonation of Fast Freddie Fong Jr. aboard Desert Lord at GP in the 4th on Saturday. Few jocks can screw up a ride just enough to create a bridesmaid out of a horse that was easily much the best.

she more than bobbled at the start she collided into the 8 , just brutal down the backstretch like bumper cars on the belt pkwy

the winner had everything go right , if jara got this horse cleanly out she wins by 10

I have to see a head on. But even then I discount most of that stuff based on it being a first start. We will see how good she is next time she starts, although I doubt she will be 11-1.
We all give Jocks a ton of crap around here (and most of the time they deserve it), but I think that this one is a bit unjust. Maybe Steve, Andy or someone else who saw the race could give their opinion. But I'm sure if you look, you could find a handful of worse rides from Sunday to post about (Hell, Doc just mentioned one).

Pardon me for intruding on what seems to be a private discussion, but when I view the headon replay it appears that #9 Graceful Moment bobbles at the start(as the announcer calls) and then comes in and bumps #8 Dubai Dancer who in turn comes in somewhat on Jara's horse #7 Aquit and this is what prevents him from getting out cleanly. After that the horse races somewhat greenly and wide and then puts in that nice run down the stretch. Agree that if the horse gets out ok it is the winner, but I don't think Jara was to blame for the trouble at the break.

Definitely not a private conversation. I was looking for feedback from whomever saw the race. My stance was that Jara did not do anything wrong either. Thanks for the feedback.

First of all, Ramon never stopped riding the horse. Secondly, the horse was lugging in badly, which is why he had a slight problem late. None of it was Ramon's fault. He rode the horse extremely well.....as he does with virtually all his mounts.

The ride on the third finisher was the poor one....though rating Mr. Dr. Professor was an odd decision and was probably the single biggest determinent in the final finish.

I don't particularly disagree with this but Jara has not broken sharply with very many of his mounts since returning.

Aquit was much the best obviously.

Andy,
Since you have seen all his races in New York since he has been back. I'm sure you are right. Perhaps we might see C.C. Lopez in the irons for the horse's next start.:)

Perhaps we'll also see 4:5.

The pickings are slim this week so we might use it on Trips&Traps.

yes , you are correct , i mis labeled the thread (mods can adjust it if they so choose , not a problem)

while it was not a textbook ride for mr jara, a lot of the reason the horse lost was because of the other horses slamming into him at the break , the wide trip hurt and clouded my judgement , but , he could have won going wide into the belt pkwy if he wasn't slammed sideways the 1st 25 yrs of the race, it's a shame we will never get this price again on this horse

scavs could ride this horse at 3/5 and he would still win as long as he isn't knocked into the shoulder on the belt pkwy at the break and has to stop and fix a flat:D :D

he stopped riding the horse when he got off , the question is when did he stop trying?
