Not necessarily a surprise, but what I find really unfair to the horse is that four of the articles under the "Related Stories" section at the bottom are about The Green Monkey.

That's auto-generated by the tags on the stories.. "Coolmore" "Pletcher" et al..

He was a VERY funny and animated horse if you got to see him up close at all. Quite likable.

He's done enough. I burned money on him in the Derby like a square.

You are right that he never won a stakes race. However, he is out of a Grade I winning mare and he did run 2nd in the Grade I Florida Derby and the Grade I Belmont Stakes.

How much play he gets for $10k remains to be seen.

Rudeboyelvis 01-07-2010 09:19 PM

He wasn't much to look at either - between Van Nistlerooy, Scat Daddy, and now this - Coolmoore's got the market cornered on precocious also-rans

But, but, he made a big middle move in the Florida Derby. He could have been great. His offspring are bound for greatness, just like him if he would have raced more than 4 times.

Scat Daddy was extremely overrated and one of my least favorite horses in recent memory, but how is a G1 and G2 winner at 2 and 3 merely an also-ran?

Cannon Shell 01-07-2010 09:45 PM

I believe $10k is the suggested retail price.

You're right - was emphasizing the precociousness-then-done aspects of their recent line... And this one fits the bill more than any.... I don't think this climate is conducive to a Florida Derby winner stud as their greatest achievement.

Just what the breed needs, hundreds more glass-legged grandsons of US.

I'm aware of how related stories are generated; it just made me laugh. ;)

I was not a fan (odd, since I have an irrational liking for grey horses), but I thought he ran a really gutsy Belmont.

Well, any thread that gets another photo posted from Revidere is a win in my book. :D Lovely shot. Thanks for putting it up!

There is nothing irrational about liking grey horses.
