Global Warming: A common sense position

"There is no way to prove that it is 100% fact that the climate is getting warmer due to greenhouse gasses"

I agree with this statement.

"There is significant evidence that shows that Global Warming is a clear and present danger and if we don't make changes the Earth could be in big trouble"

I agree with this statement.

So....

What would be wrong with an approach that was safe rather than sorry? That is the part that loses me. I am not an environmentalist in any way, shape or form but what do we have to lose as a nation if we tried things more the tree hugger way?

I really have no opinion on this stuff.

Review the cap&trade bill passed by the US House of Reps and you will have your answer.

We already do lots of stuff the tree hugger way. Compared to life 25 years ago we all act like tree huggers now as compared to then. The United States cant solve the supposed problem by itself and honestly do you really think that our "leadership" on the issue will spur other countries to follow us? Especially when our leadership consists of a Tax and trade bill that does very little for the environment while harming the economy which really doesnt need any more problems. Our other "leadership" avenue is we give hundreds of billions of dollars to other countries to deal with their supposed global warming issues. Mind you that pretty much none of this will ever be enforcable... That volcano that erupted the other day has way more environmental impact than a billion people and last I knew we didn't have control over them though it has been proposed by Pelosi to try to tax them for excessive lava flow. As a matter of fact if a few more volcanos erupt and put all that soot and dust in the atmosphere we will be worrying about global cooling

That should drive the greenies blood pressure up. Prepare for a flood of links..............

Just get Halliburton to cap off all of the volcanos, and then slaughter all of the cows and you will have eliminated 98% of the gasses that do acutally cause detriment to the ozone. And I'm just kidding about Halliburton...I'm sure there is some other democrat owned enviro company that is getting pockets greased right now like Halliburton used to.

It's funny that when a scientific subject is brought up, some people can only talk politics.

No, it doesn't harm us at all to try and eliminate pollution, keep the air and water clean, find less expensive and greener ways to produce energy, to try and become less dependent upon foreign countries, etc.

I am much happier, when it's six degrees out today, to have solar energy helping keep my house toasty warm for pennies, than paying the natural gas company alot more.

I don't think the earth is in trouble at all. The earth will keep spinning no matter what the temperature is. It's been a lot warmer in the past, and it's been a lot colder in the past. When the Moon is no longer in the gravitational pull of the Earth people will be in big trouble if there are any left by then. When our local star, The Sun, goes Supernova it's gonna cause Global Warming that will make Al Gore proud.

Cow farts ....the demise of everything.

SOREHOOF 01-08-2010 07:42 PM

I'm cold. Especially when I have to go outside.
