Babe Ruth - Hank Aaron - Berry Bonds

Jim Brown - Jerry Rice - Randy Moss?

The record for most TD's in NFL history has been held by either Jim Brown or Jerry Rice for almost the past 50 years.

Moss has the 2nd most TD catches in NFL history and is now just 59 TD's short of catching Jerry Rice. Rice played over 8 full seasons longer than Moss. I think Moss breaks that one if he cares to stay around.

Moss has 148 career TD catches.

Hall of Fame wide reciever Lynn Swan had just 51. Hall of Fame wide reciever Michael Irvin had just 65. Wes Welker has just 16 for his entire career.

51 + 65 +16 = 132 - that's 16 less than 148.

Everyone thinks the 2007 Patriots offense was the best unit of all-time because they own all the records ... but without a doubt the 1998 Vikings had the best offensive unit of all-time.

I realize they were 15-1 instead of 16-0 and only scored the 2nd most points in NFL history to the '07 Pats .. but they controlled the ball with balance, were more explosive with a younger Moss, and didn't run the score up on teams in the 2nd half.

exactly 7:00 minutes in is the clip on Moss as a rookie. He only played 2 years of college.

Peyton Manning looks like the biggest dweeb to ever put on a uniform in that draft day video.

hoovesupsideyourhead 01-02-2010 08:56 PM

how many qb rb numbers were basterdized by the usfl..

The Indomitable DrugS 01-02-2010 09:02 PM

The USFL only lasted 4 years .... and no one who played in it would remotely contend.

If anything...maybe it helped Jerry Rice because some better NFL caliber defensive players were playing in it. Not that Rice needed much help as great as he was and with Walsh as his coach and Montana and Young as his QB's.

QB's td passes thrown don't count in the scoring TD category.

I didn't follow it at that time ... so what the hell would I know?

you can spit out all the stats you want but that lazy clown (moss) can't carry Swann or Rice's HoF jackets.

Who is Berry Bonds? Sounds like a Ben and Jerrys flavor

Cannon Shell 01-02-2010 09:07 PM

Moss has 2-3 years left, tops

Jim Brown was the man, and is still the man. The NFL has not produced one player that ranks with him. There's not many great things growing up in Cleveland, but seeing him play in person through much of his career was truely something special.

He was a one man wrecking ball, and if you're of defense, you're going to take a beating by him running into you.

the 49ers were perfecting the "west coast" offense. the usfl had the mouse davis-gamblers run-n-shoot and the the bandits-spurrier debuted the fun-n-gun. only the run-n-shoot crossed over the the nfl. all three offenses changed the nfl game forever. all the numbers now can't be compared to the teams before mid-to-late 80's

Moss + Raiders = wasted years

Lazy?

Year in and year out - Moss is asked to do more running in a game than any player in history.

There has never been a greater team player.

The reason he doesn't go over the middle more and catch a lot of rinky dink stuff is because he's far more valuable keeping the safety deep and opening up space for both the underneath pass and the run.

On top of being an amazing team player - he's also an above average blocker. That's something you can't say for a lot of top recievers.

If only he had a good defense in Minnesota - they would have won at least 3 Super Bowls with atleast 3 different totally mediocre qbs.

Based on what?

He's only 32.

He still attracts the same kind of coverage he always has. Just wait until the safties start creeping up a little bit and not conceding so many easy completions to Welker and the tight ends. Hopefully that happens in the playoffs.

RockHardTen1985 01-02-2010 09:32 PM

I agree.

Based on no one pays 35 year old receivers what Moss needs to make in order to play.

Why?

Because he doesn't force the coaches to let him play defense?
