The Mid-meet blahs

Have to say that today's and tomorrow's cards at the Spa aren't exactly grade A quality stuff. Tomorrow is saturated with claiming races(they had to use 3 extra races because the book races didn't fill) and today's isn't a whole lot better. I always call it the mid meet blahs and its this way very often in week number 4. The guys who were aiming for the first condition book(ended on Sunday) have run their stuff and its too soon to run many of those horses back yet. Hence the abundance of claiming races that always fill. There is a carryover today that should pay large to anyone lucky enough to have it but I think the next two days are best spent watching the PGA tournament and then doing prep work on Saturday's DRF for what shoud be a great Alabama card. Even paradise has a few knocks.

Mike- Is there anywhere at the track that will show the Red Sox- Yankees day game tomorrow? I'm planning on being at the track all day only because I have to entertain guests. I would really like to watch.

Tim, if you are going to the track tommorow, I may find a horse and let you bet that $20 on it for me.

Gander 08-17-2006 09:19 AM

Okay, you better get me early while I still have $20 left. This hasnt been a good week for me Kev.

Tim I just spoke to a friend who lives about 30 miles away and loves to come to the track. He asked me about today and tomorrow and I told him that i saw absolutely nothing worth pursuing other than today's pick-6. Tomorrow has like 6 claiming races, no thanks. I have some work to do and with the PGA on tv today and the Yanks and PGA on tv tomorrow, its time for a little mid meet break. No sense in banging your head against the wall trying to make something out of nothing when the weekend will soon be here with stakes races across the USA and the Alabama card. I've never know the track to show baseball anywhere unless you have a box in the clubhouse with your own private little tv. Pass on the races tomorrow, get yourself a Saturday DRF at 7 AM tomorrow morning when they come off the truck, and watch golf's last major and the Yanks-Bosox while perusing Saturday's card.

we can save it for a later time then bro, no worries.

Gander 08-17-2006 09:42 AM

No Kev, let me know who you like and I will send in a $20 bet for you. Tomorrow works well as I will be there all day and dont particular see a lot that I will be wagering on so I will get you a bet.

Mike, I wish I had that option but my Uncle is only here for 2 days and he wants to go both days. Otherwise I would wait for Sat. The weather is suppose to be ideal tomorrow (when hasnt it been lately), I'd like nothing better than to do something outside and then catch the baseball game. As far as golf goes, I can wait until Sunday to watch.

Speaking of The Alabama I will never ever EVER forget Silverbulletday and her Alabama. Man, that was one awesome display. I have never seen turn of foot on a filly like before in my life. Simply amazing. The image of her turning home is something that is burned in my memory.
