Derby Fields
 

I was curious to see how the fields of the past few Derbies have done after the Derby. For the most part, the most successful and durable were the horses who switched to turf after the Derby. The Iron Horse of them all is Imawildandcrazyguy with 31 starts since 2007 (Storm Treasure also has 31, but he has had more time to do it).

I listed mostly their highlights and the number that appears in parenthesis is their number of starts since the Derby.

The 2009 Derby field is looking like its going to be one of the worst of all time.

Nice to see Denis of Cork back on the worktab. This colt showed some promise as a 3-year old before getting hurt.

There is still hope for the class of 2009, I lean towards 2005 being the worst:

That looks like a lot of wins in that field, including a legit nice horse in Sun King....I think its 1-5 2009 is the worst.

There are some nice horses in the 2009 crop. It's just that most of them didn't make the Derby field.
