Nope..and I love the list of coaches who have already come out and said they don't want the job. The arrogant ND Alum just don't get that not everyone either A) Loves ND b) Wants to coach at ND

Scav 11-30-2009 03:27 PM

I already sent ole Charlie a letter asking him to bring his ass over to Chicago and run our offense

According to him, he has already been contacted by 6 NFL teams to do just that...classy guy.

And I'd worry more about 1 ) Your defense and 2) Your personnel..

LOL my buddy.. a Bears fan.. said the same thing. Cowher (sp?) to coach and "the chin" to run the offense.

As far as ND, i would find it hilarious if Meyer pulled a Rich Rod and left FL for ND before the BCS games.. but maybe only SCUM like Rich Rod does that.

He'll be back at New England before you can say "arrogant prick".

The word in the Chicago media is that Cowher said there is only three teams he would coach, and the Bears is one of them.

I love it too... and I love how Notre Don't insists on being independent, scorning the conference they play all the rest of their sports in because they're "too good" for the Big East...

Meanwhile, their record against the Big East over the past two seasons: 0-4

Go stick your history and supposed (fraudulent) claims of academic excellence up the ass of touchdown Jesus!

Have a family member that says it hasn't bode for Penn State joining the Big Ten.

As for the fraudulent claims. Do you have evidence? I sure can use the material.

"Though ESPN and popular press reports often make similarly mistaken assertions, the fact is Notre Dame still eagerly recruits and regularly admits football players with GPAs and SAT scores far lower than their classmates - 300 or more points below the Notre Dame average SAT score and nearly a full grade point below in GPA is not at all uncommon. Notre Dame's assistant provost and admissions director, Dan Saracino, has given several high-profile (eg, Sports Illustrated) interviews clarifying Notre Dame's admission policies relevant to this issue. Saracino has consistently noted on the record there has been no change in our approach to admissions for football players.

"By one measure our admissions standards are somewhat demanding - we require a few more high school core courses than some competing schools. This supposedly helps demonstrate an interest in and capacity for college level academic work. By another measure our admissions standards are quite relaxed - few schools admit football players with test scores so far below the average of the student population. Whether one is in favor of keeping our policy the same or chaning it in either direction, we should all agree no blame for our football misfortunes is due to a change in our enrollment policies.

Notre Dame not holding athletes to the same academic standard? No way, I thought they all earned admission just like all of those kids at Georgetown did over the years.

I dont give any credence to bitter academics.

I would bet that the average scores of the general student population of ND is higher than big state schools. While they may not be as stringent academically as they try to pretend they are, ND doesnt seem recruit the really questionable guys like most other big schools.

And as long as NBC wants them they arent any different than the Pac 10, Big 10 or SEC who keep blocking a playoff because they dont want to share the money they currently monopolize.

Holy **** I just defended Notre Dame. Going to check my temp...

The guy didn't get it done at the top. But, he's a helluva an offensive mind, might his next stop be our beloved Washington Redskins Offensive Coach? Lord knows they need someone clever to call the freakin plays there!

Are you feeling sick? Too many late nights and early mornings?

Seriously, they are frauds when it comes to their claims that academics get in the way of athletics. What does that say about Stanford (ranked 4th in US News National Universities ranking), Duke (10th), Northwestern (12th), Vanderbilt (17th), UC Berkeley (21st), UCLA (24th), UVA (24th), USC (26th), Michigan (27th), UNC (28th), Wake Forest (28th), Boston College (34th), or Penn State, Florida, and Texas (tied for 47th)? Are they all doing terribly because they have semi-difficult entrance requirements, or does all it take is 3rd grade literacy and a phony GED to get in? While I'm sure there's a few questionable guys on all of these school's teams, the majority have quality kids. While a good kid and decent academically, Golden Tate ain't exactly Einstein- he had a 3.1 GPA and 26 ACT, respectable but not exactly up to par of what is "suggested" for the 50th percentile as entrance to ND (3.7 GPA 32 ACT).

They have struggled because the BCS football landscape has rendered them useless. Until they join the Big East as a full member, or Big Ten, their independent status will rank them as the "token white guy" trying to get in the club.

College football players shouldnt have to get the same scores that a regular student gets, they have a special skill set and lets not forget the amount of money made on their backs. That being said i truly believe that they have higher standards than most of the schools listed with the exception of Stanford, Duke, NW and Vandy. ND rarely has issues with player behavior and off the field issues that other schools regularly have regardless of the coach.

I really think you are missing the boat on ND's success or lackthereof. It really has nothing to do with the BCS or no conference affiliation.

It is simply they havent had a good coach since Lou Holtz. Nobody wins without a good coach in high level college football. They arent getting ultra successful guys who thrive post-ND. They have simply made bad hires. If they had gotten Meyer, they would have been a top 10 team every year. With Weis, FL would be 8-4.

he's not the first good coordinator to fail at the top-perhaps college isn't his forte.

hell, i'd take anyone at washington as long as it helps!

while they were firing the coach, they should have gone ahead and fired the AD as well. several bad coaching hires now-it's not just the coaches.

I don't think that's entirely the problem with them, but it just bothers me significantly that they scorn the conference they are affiliated with because they claim to be "too good" where in fact they would have struggled to finish better than 7th this year and last.
