Very cool.

Now, if they can combine the Twinspires video with the Youbet platform, I'll be in heaven.

it was just a matter of time for this to happen, twinspires took a big chunk of their market share when they burst on the scene years ago

Hey bigs, how ya been...Miss you over at the other place....
Not sure i like this merger...YB doesn't need any one, there's nothing to improve...Platform as you say is best in the business and i find nothing wrong with the tv....They ticked me off couple months ago when they chopped reward points almost in half....I emailed Lucky and asked why, haven't heard back....assume cost cutting.....good luck ole bud...hope the Fuse is ok....

It was a matter of time? I never saw this coming. Can I accuse you of knowing some inside information? :)

i disagree, their video rivals that of a black and white tv with rabbit ears, twinspires tv is glorious. in regards the youbet points, same thing happened to me, and after i wrote them a nice letter about my intentions of taking my business elsewhere they re-credited my account. They say that you're required to use your youbet points after 2 years from receiving them, if not they expire. Which leads me to another reason why i like twinspires, youbet offered ZERO players rewards points for BC plays this past weekend, yet if you bet delta downs on a thursday you get double points, or something awful like that.

as far as the "insider information" goes, i had none with this. It makes sense in the fact that Churchill downs is a bigger company, they've already made efforts to acquire similar assest/competition and take a bigger chunk of the pie. And though ubet has had a good run stock wise, they were really no match for the bigger churchill downs in the long term IMO. I think its a great deal for all involved

I don't think it is plus for bettors...no COMPETITION. Expressbet is a lagging third in this market. I've rarely seen a situation where 2 competitors merge and the consumer benefits.

Haven't ever been to twinspires site, so can't make comparison, will take your word their tv is great...Tv at the otb not a whole lot better than what i get at YB, on good days at least....Forgot about the two year rule, my points don't linger..I cash in for vouchers when i tap out avoiding deposits when i can...year or so ago they cut out points at all the major tracks or only offer 10 or so....I play mostly 'smaller' tracks that i like...2-3 months ago they reduced points at ALL tracks...tracks that offered 140 exotic points dropped to 80...ticked me off....I wasn't aware of this merger till i read this post...'
I'm just a dinosaur, happy with the status quo...Been a member since 1999.
Btw, you aren't Bubba T are you....Don't think he was from VA....good luck...DJ

otisotisotis 11-11-2009 07:17 PM

ok....but is the acquisition of United Tote the most important part of the deal?

Travis Stone 11-11-2009 09:08 PM

YouBet.com is a really successful operation of late and the merger really made lots of sense knowing the long term road of gambling on the internet.

As for the platforms...

Nothing beats the YouBet Wager Pad Pro. For a horseplayer, it's like pennies from heaven.

As for the video presentation? Nothing beats Twinspires.

Put the Twinspires a/v technology with the YouBet platform and you have the King of ADWs.

excellent point, i really think this is gonna be a win win, there are still options out there for those who don't like either of these two companies.

His favorite subject.

The last time I checked, which was well over a year ago, Twinspires.com wasn't available for me to use in my state (Minnesota). I've always used youbet.com.
I'm a little worried how this will affect my ability to wager online.

Uh, I think Magna owns Expressbet. Magna is in bankruptcy, so the final disposition of that assert is unknown.
