Who will be champion older horse?

I suppose the Clark Hcp and Cigar Mile will help sort out the picture. Macho Again might win the Eclipse by default. Who else is there? Albertus Maximus? Einstein? Rail Trip? Bribon?

Sightseek 11-10-2009 09:01 PM

Gio Ponti

Could Zenyatta qualify for this?

She is older..plus she is a horse

I would rather see Well Armed win it over Macho Again. That would be a shame IMO. I guess Gio Ponti wins this? This one is really tough. Einstein maybe? How many Grade 1's does he have this year?

Macho Again had 3 times as many stakes wins as Well Armed did in this country. I understand not wanting to give it to Macho Again but Well Armed is not even an option.

If it has to be an older dirt horse it boils down to Macho and Bullsbay as sad as that is.

Ok Bullsbay then.

The whole division sucked, they ought to just take the award away.

I don't think Gio Ponti could get this off a second in the Classic. His only dirt win this year came in a Grade 3.

Well I would give it to Gio Ponti, Bullsbay, Einstein, and even Well Armed before Macho Again... Even though on paper Macho Again did more and defeated Bullsbay and Einstein head to head... DAM HES GOING TO WIN THIS.

Maybe Commentator? He did go 1/3 with a 95 Beyer in a NY Bred Stakes Races.

Cannon Shell 11-10-2009 11:31 PM

Gio Ponti will win this award

he shipped all over the country and ran his heart out. the only real bad race was at arlington? he was in the BC until the 1/16th pole.

there's no reason the top turf male can't win top older; he's my pick for this. there's past precedent for multiple awards.

I was disappointed with his flat effort... he's better than what we saw this weekend and certainly could have contended down the stretch on his best day.

I don't understand how Gio Ponti can't win this award. It's not necessarily reserved for a dirt horse, is it?

Bullsbay faced Macho Again four times this year winning twice.

Gio Ponte is the most deserving but sports writers are mostly idiots, for an example see the AL Gold Glove winners.

If it had to be a dirt horse and Bribon wins the Cigar Mile, its him.

If it can go to a turf horse, Gio Ponti had a pretty salty campaign and many Grade One wins.
