Fairgrounds to simulcast signal in HD

Really glad these tracks are moving forward with HD. It is so much of more enjoyable watching races in HD, see so much more and things so clearer. Here is hoping it is a CDSN mandate and Arlington is next. Most of the TV's in house are already HD ready so I am guessing we will see it April 29th :)

It's cool... definite difference in quality. The only challenge is the vast majority of simulcast outlets can't receive HD signals... so it's still a little ways away from being completely widepsread.

I will say though Keeneland's presentation is amazing - I saw it first hand last weekend - big thumbs-up.

Just wish TVG would get set up so they can receive the HD signal.

Does anybody know if initiatives to get the broadcast in HD will also allow for higher resolution Win Place or Show pictures for "photo finishes"? Sometimes those old pictures look pretty grainy, and it seems that most are derived from a TV camera still frame.

those aren't coming from a tv camera, but whichever type of std camera the track is using for their photo finishes (either older film or digital SLR type cameras, mostly digital that can have their picture blown up quickly by computer). The graininess from them is from blowing up a digital pic too much for the resolution of the camera.
