Jackson Bend sale

Got a tweet that a sale is pending for Jackson Bend. Anybody know if he's being purchased to compete in the Breeders' Cup?

Never heard of the horse.

Wow, that was hard to predict:

I hope not on the BC--avoid that crap surface and prep him for next year. Let's see how far he can go.

Any word on the buyer? Please let it be Jackson or even IEAH (yuck) and not the Arabs, who will take him back to the sandbox and ruin him for next year, like they always do.

I actually would rather it be Godolphin than IEAH. The latter is almost certain to run him in the BC which I think would be a mistake.

Godolphin has a poor history with the Derby, but the 3YOs they brought to Dubai this year are doing OK, right? (Girolamo, Vineyard Haven, Midshipman, Regal Ransom)

He'll have to be supplement to the BC if the buyer does intend to run him there. I don't think this is Godolphin. I understand they already tried to buy JB and the deal didn't go down.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's someone connected with Dutrow Jr. - as almost everything he seems to pluck out of Calder always outruns there odds next start - even though bettors rabidly send it in on them expecting projected Dutrow improvement ... they rarely fail to look like great overlays after their 1st race with Dutrow is over.

Controling interest to Bob LaPenta... Going to Zito's string at Churchill.

OK, thanks.

The Iroquois might be too soon, but maybe the KY Jockey Club. Or just wait for Gulfstream.

It's good to hear this one won't be going to IEAH. I don't think we'll see JB in the entries until a GP stakes.

Probably so, and I count that as a good thing.

Story is up now at DRF...

Welsch told me that LaPenta/Zito and Fred Brei were all of a similar mindset about being cautious with him. LaPenta apparently won out among the bidders because Brei got to keep a share and because they had similar feelings about where to go/what to do moving forward.. There's a chance he runs in November at Churchill though.
