St. Louis Derby

Having a $250,000 race at Fairmount would be like me going out to my backyard and digging up 18 little holes with a spoon and then hosting my own PGA event.
But hey if they can pull it off (and get a graded stakes winner like Lawyer Ron to show up) more power to them I guess.

that's awesome
I love that place
have you been?
the big catsup bottle
sweet, I'm happy for them

Fairmont Park is bottom rung. Felt like I was betting at a bus station. All I can say is DON'T get anything to eat. It's probably last week's loser

Yes I have. I have family that live in the area so I am happy for them, because they get to see some semi-legitimate racing. But my god that is a......I can't even think of the right adjective to describe the facility. I just know that it sucks. Hard.

if you were to start rooting for them at the top of th stretch
you'd be out of breath by the time they crossed the finish line

almost as bad as arabians

I will say this.. Fairmont Park horses run well a Ellis
if you can believe that

Ouch, what a fall for Lawyer Ron. To go from Derby hopeful at Churchill Downs to, let's try to regroup in a Faimount Park stakes? Lets say that doesn't work out, what's the next stop? The fair circuit?

That is a good line, and I am all for making fun of Fairmount, but in his defense it is a $250,000 race so it isn't exactly your usual $500 claiming race at Fairmount.

If you had the chance to have an easy comeback race and make 150k, would you?

I think so...I haven't heard much is going down there but you will get some hard knocking 3 year old Illinois bred and some mid level horses, and then one nut horse.

BellamyRd. 08-15-2006 09:57 AM

yeah I was about to say...
dig 18 holes in your backyard & put up a big enough purse
somebody's going to show up
if the money's green, why not?
plus it gives the people of StL, Misery
a chance to see a bigtime racehorse in person
probably will torture the track record of going 9F in 2:55.11

agreed, it might be a steal for them and I fault no one for going after an easy payday.
