DRF Price Increase

I pick up the Saturday DRF print form and it says New Saturday Price, they have now increased it to $7 for Saturday. They have added some weekend section as well in an apparent attempt to justify this crazy price. I know many download, but I prefer the Print Form, old school I guess. I find the increase insulting.

I paid $7 . Another dollar... no big deal.

No inflation anywhere I tell you.

pointman 10-09-2009 03:01 PM

It is not the extra dollar, it is the fact that they have now raised the price twice within the last year or so and have given you less for what you are paying for as if you don't notice. I am sure this is a prelude to raising the overall price for every day, but I guess that is the cost of being a horseplayer.

Be happy you can get the DRF - they don't even sell it at Colonial!

letswastemoney 10-09-2009 03:14 PM

Find someone who downloaded the online version and tell him to email to you ;)

Watchmaker held them up for a HUGE salary bump. He was an Unrestricted free agent and the bidding went wild for his services. Blame it on WATCH! Plus they have had to get a proof reader assistant to check his work since his work typically is full of mistakes. KIDDING sort of

Well, Beyer's crew did have to make all those adjustments to the polytrack BSFs.

The price of paper has like doubled in the last 18 months. That is the primary reason for the increase.

letswastemoney 10-10-2009 12:58 AM

DRF has a monopoly on what they do. There is no one to challenge them. If they charged $10 for the print edition, people would still buy it, because there is no other way to win this game without the DRF.

Yes Of Course,,,,,$27,000 Supers Are Always Found In The Racing Form. And Im The Easter Bunny.

You will find zero sympathy from this crew regarding DRF price increases or anything to do with the content. I went down this road some time ago and it was like 25 on 1. I sense that since they are already giving their money away at the windows, what's the big deal if the DRF is ripping them off.

DRF has actually made some of the improvements I had been complaining about, but they have also decreased the amount of actual content. I'm not sure how the get away with charging people the same price for the edition found at the local candy store, which includes 4 tracks (usually nyra, cali, mth/meadowlands and 1 other track) and they one with the addition insert that you get AT the track that has anywhere from 6-8 tracks in it. If I could get that edition everywhere, it wouldn't be so bad, but last Saturday, I went to the contest at the Meadowlands and had to pay $7 for a paper that didn't even include Calder, one of the contest tracks.

why buy it and start off the day 7 bucks in the hole. i would rather bet the 7 bucks on a race.
