Fasig Tipton Calder '08 - a look back at the highest prices

Looking at the top 20 priced horses from that 2yo sale - there sure was a lot of talent there. The big six would be..

Zensational
Munnings
Regal Ransom
Desert Party
Sara Louise
Elusive Heat

The other 14 have some pretty nice race horses - and some fillys with real good residual value among them. 12 of those 14 made it to the races and 7 of the 12 won their debuts.

Mr Mistoffelees won his debut big and tanked at 1/5 in the Tremont. Reynaldothewizard won his debut by 5 and tanked in the Saratoga Special at 5/2 next out. V Jack won his debut at Del Mar and hasn't returned. Majestic Blue won his debut at Saratoga and now stinks. Zoi Zoi, a Seeking the Gold filly who won her debut at Calder by 8 for Pletcher is a bum.

Boodles is an undefeated Fox Hill Farm filly that's 3-for-3 and got a 91 Beyer last out. One of the ones that didn't win on debut - but has amazingly overcome bad Bill Mott training is Mesa Sunrise. He won an alw race at Saratoga with a 97 Beyer last out - and the number probably should have been higher.

Among the never much dog biscuits ...

Drake Passage is 3-for-4 with all Beyers in the 80's

Maraschino Red has a GP MSW win and SAR alw win. Two failed stakes tries. She's a Medaglia D' Oro half sibling to Grade 1 winners Spun Sugar and Daheer. Pretty nice broodmare value though I'd say.

A Storm Cat filly out of an Alydar mare that can't run also still might have some broodmare value to her.
