Gus, I despise Black Bear Island in this spot. The first thing that our local Irish friend said to me on Million Day was that BBI needs to run at 10-12 furlongs, anything less and he is a major play against and I agreed with him.

Think today is a major opportunity to play against him

You guys were absolutely spot on. I was going on the sharp works by Canani (especially the 3F blowout). He finished well despite looking like he wasn't very interested today.

If there is one thing I have learned in the last year, is that works mean absolutely nothing. Progression maybe, but the time means squat

I agree with your view on the works overall, but I especially follow the workout patterns of Canani's runners as an indication to how they are coming into a specific race. He's one that is an exception to the rule IMO. Just as Asmussen rarely works his runners hard in the mornings, yet wins at a high % with 1sters. Did you have the Alcova Kid on opening day?

didnt he seem like he was looking to get into trouble most of the race?

No, he could win 4 more times and I won't be mad, he burned me way too many times.

With Arlington closed, not playing that much anyways, focused on the BC....
