Okay, not getting my hopes up, but this made me really happy:

Woo-hoo! :) It is a good sign. At least he's getting to enjoy himself a little.

*knock knock*
Yes???? Can Barbaro come out and play??:D :D |
... and here's the Thoroughbred Times article on it, with a quote from Gretchen Jackson about Barbaro's reaction to being outdoors. I'm a such a sap- I got all teary-eyed...

I was thrilled to read about it.....
Lovely pictures too. Such happy news! |

This is awesome for Barbaro. I hope he continues to do well... it would be great to be able to see his babies in a few years. :D

Well I suppose that in reality it is probably all but impossible for him to actually win it, but that is too bad because in my opinion he was definitely the best horse that any of us saw this year. |
i heard them say saturday while watching the million etc telecast that he had gone out, they interviewed the jacksons who said he grazed about 20 minutes. was wonderful to hear. almost as good as hearing that his near hind is growing.
he'll make the final cut for hoy--you watch. may not win, but he'll be in the mix. |

Yet, here he is, improving a bit every day, and looking healthier as time goes on. To this point he is proof of the existence of miracles and that sometimes when you put your head down and grind it out, facing darkness in the eye, you can see through to the bright side again. How could you not be even a little emotional? I KNOW I AM! |
Here is the video. You have to watch a little commercial but Barbaro looks good and happy.

Thanks for posting the link. :) I'm going to go get a tissue now. |
It's a MIRACLE, I tell ya! :)

And here's ESPN's article on it. Nice quotes from the doc:
http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/hor...ory?id=2549298 Yes, I'm obsessed. I know. And he wasn't even my Derby pick. Here's a question for the breeding experts-- not getting my hopes up, but IF he makes it, and IF he is unable to support his weight on his hind legs for breeding purposes, is there any possibility he could be used, via AI for breeding horses for other equestrian disciplines? Other disciplines permit artificial insemination, right? |

I love the video on the upenn site. You can hear him snorting in happiness as he nibbles up clover. And his stubby little tail is going 90 mph. He sure looks good.
