As it comes to a close, I hope you have enjoyed 'At the Races' coverage of the 2009 Saratoga Race Course season. It's been an intense 6 weeks filled with truly outstanding racing which in most measures exceeded expectation. More closing thoughts later in the week... Thanks for all your encouragement and support this summer.

Am I okay to assume "firm" turf today? NYRA has not updated their turf course updates tab yet.

The third is giving me fits. I can't get past Uno Peso's wins both being on a muddy/sealed track. Does Day Trippi put pressure on Credit Limit? I think Desormeaux will need to go from the rail and if no one goes with... If Desormeaux gets cute and tries to rate, Day Trippi may be alone on the lead. Not sure Spina can remember her maiden breaker over a year ago....

Day Trippi misses the break....and Spina rolls.

I went 5 deep in this seven horse field to get this one, it gave me fits as well and I am glad to get through it.

Thanks, I singled the 2 in the second which gives me some coverage. This race wasn't any easier as I just couldn't figure out the pace. I'm using the 1,3,6,7 and I wish I had the 4 on this ticket as well. My guess is the 1,2 or 6 may go, I am hoping the 1 or 6 gets to lope along, but I hope they don't hook each other up.

The late should be interesting, I think Pat and I are going to put a big investment into this one. Good Luck today!

I didn't like the 4 either. She ran credibly though.

Taking my whopping $54 winning ticket from yesterday and parlaying into the late 4 today.

2,4,5,6,7,8,10/3/8,9,10,12/5,9

Steve,
Played your late P4, including all four of your selections in the 8th. I usually include all four of your selections when you single one of the races. $1,641 was quite a surprise. Didn't expect that much of a payoff considering the first three legs didn't produce a winner over 3-1. 11-1 to finish the sequence was nice though.
Thank you for a great end to the meet!

Steve

Sciacca as director, delaying the photo, was a true sign of the importance of the race.

God Bless

And they need you to sit to the left of Andy next year w/ the meet you had 'capin.

T/F,

Excellent! Glad you thought through the first leg and nabbed Corey's Coming to start it. I had punched a stack of tickets early in the day and only had the late P3 myself, which was quite OK too. Definitely a nice way to end the meet, particularly as the nightcap win went to Mrs. Weber.

Was pleased to end the 6 weeks with a very good day, as I had really struggled after Travers Weekend for 6 straight days. Hope everyone did well.

Dell,

Sciacca was actually yelling for Tina, who had joined the photographers line for the award ceremony, instead of standing in with us! It was very special, and I'm exceedingly grateful to Gary, Barry Frey, Tina and NYRA for the gesture towards my mother's memory.

As for sitting with Andy... that's a nice compliment. I thought I had enough strong days to more than offset the bad, with a number of individual big price horses that offered the opportunity to key profit. I hope those that regularly used my opinion came away ahead for the meet.

But Andy basically sits alone after this summer. His work was consistantly remarkable day after day, and his ability to identify mammouth on-the-spot opportunities during the pre-race prattle was stunning. Pletcher's Interactif from last week was one example ($30+ winner). I heard from several people who specifically 'got out' for the meet on that single Sterling push. The giant price Paulino Ortiz score from opening week is another that comes to mind. I obviously couldn't hear every pre-race insight he provided, but anyone who simply allowed his thoughts to be infused into their play meet-long, benefitted substancially.
