Stats question (Rachel and Da'Tara)

Da' Tara is pointing to the Woodward isn't he? When's the last time classic winners from two different crops faced each other? Did Funny Cide do it? Things like that don't happen as often nowadays what with retirements, injuries, etc. It just occurred to me while I was thinking about the Marlboro Cup and I knew someone here would know. Thanks :)

Funny Cide ended up running against Birdstone in the 2004 BC Classic. I dont know if it was the last time, but it was what remembered.

Thanks guys! Poor fella, but folks seem to almost be blocking out Da' Tara's Belmont win. I mean they know consciously that he did it and yet it's like "we'll pretend that never happened." I enjoy me some Tiznow offspring so here's hoping they do well, only behind Rachel Alexandra.

Because it was a joke of a win, just like Sarava and Commendable and Jazil. Those horses shouldn't be called "classic" winners but that's what this race does.

You're right. They should have ran the race over again until Big Brown was able to win. However many times that took. Because he was the only deserving classic winner last year. Better yet, they shouldnt even have run the race, cancelled it and just declared Brownie the winner.

Let's not forget D'Tara's prep for the Woodward which was a DNF in a two mile dirt race where he basically refused to run until the rider pulled him up. It should set him up perfectly for the matchup against Rachel.

He was not in the 2 mile event. He ran 1 1/8, and ran like ****.

Hey, if you see DaTara as a legitimate classic winning horse, who's to argue with you? When I think of what it means to be a classic winner, I have a hard time thinking Bid, Secretariat, Sunday Silence, Smarty Jones, DaTara, Affirmed, Sarava, Seattle Slew, Curlin, Jazil, Easy Goer, Alysheba. This would be a good list for one of those school projects where the student has to pick out the names that don't fit on this list.
