How hot can it be?

For them to continue to race? I remember a couple years back Saratoga closed one day because it was too hot. Today has to be as same as it was that day, which was also a weekday. I wonder if this was a consideration for today?

Anyone know the standard that they use to determine if racing can go on?

It's only like 90 degrees.

Sightseek 08-17-2009 01:04 PM

I think on that day the heat index was like 109.

DaTruth 08-17-2009 03:25 PM

No racetrack could be hotter than Louisiana Downs.

It isn't remotely as hot as it was that week.

You know it. I just drove to Starbucks to get some work done and my air conditioning in the car could barely keep up.

Its hotter than Hades down here. Its amazing what horses can endure, especially @ LAD where they run during the hottest part of the day.

good to see other complain about the heat. we do it everyday during July and August here in Phoenix. But yes its a dry heat.

Travis Stone 08-17-2009 06:57 PM

The problem here is you get the heat, the sun plus a massive dose of humidity. So not only do you bake, but you stick as well... it's just all around miserable.

That said, while others are digging out of the snow, I'm teeing up a golf ball.

i've been to phoenix in july and august-it may be a dry heat, but at that point, it's just too damned hot.

Sightseek 08-17-2009 07:03 PM

It can never be too hot, only too cold!

Yes but you don't have to scrape heat off a windshield.
