Finally Democratic Common Sense

in an interview with the Detroit News Monday, Senator Debbie Stabenow (D., Mich.) - recently appointed to the Senate Energy Committee - made clear that fighting the climate crisis is her top priority.

"Climate change is very real," she confessed as she embraced cap and trade's massive tax increase on Michigan industry - at the same time claiming, against all the evidence, that it would not lead to an increase in manufacturing costs or energy prices. "Global warming creates volatility. I feel it when I'm flying. The storms are more volatile. We are paying the price in more hurricanes and tornadoes."

Well Maybe Not :zz: :zz:

I wonder if she was using her vibrator on the flight and that was the real cause of the extra turbulence.

Hey Steve, look up volatility in the dictionary. The fact that it is the coldest July on record actually makes her point of volatility.

Coach Pants 08-13-2009 09:45 AM

Well you just let out some hot air so the temp jumped 3 degrees.

randallscott35 08-13-2009 09:51 AM

Wait she flies through a lot of tornados and hurricanes?

funny, i was just reading the other day that tornado chasers are disappointed at the complete lack of tornadoes to chase this year. they said it's good there haven't been many at all, since there's no death/destruction. but, they are trying to study a phenomenon that hasn't been there to study.

this lady, after reading the above, is a nut who has no concept of reality. she's completely ignoring the evidence regarding cost, and is ignoring the fact that there hasn't been tornadic activity, and there is an expectation of a very slow hurricane season this year.

pants is probably onto something.

Just because 'volatility' applies to stocks and securities doesn't make it fact when applied to nature. How did we come out of an ice age without man the first time? And why in the 70's were scientists warning of pending doom due to another ice age?

Now Scott explain to me how a Cap in Trade tax will not lead to increases in manufacturing and energy prices. Especially when countries like India and China will continue to manufacture w/o the cost.

Isn't an elected Sen supposed to follow his/her constituents? Or did that all go out the window in this new Obama world?

I'm not qualified to do that and am undecided on cap and trade. I was simply pointing out that your blogger there was trying to use a perfect example of volatility to discount a statement that there was more volatility.

The volitility she "feels" when she is flying has nothing to do with what you spoke of. Dont knock the messenger... this is a nutjob. And you are certainly qualified to understand why cap and trade will make American manufacturers operate a distinct disadvantage. In horseracing terms the American horses will now carry 170 pounds and start from post 27.

That would make Calvin Borel unemployed and Mike Smith the 'go to guy!' :D

Coach Pants 08-13-2009 09:52 PM
