Maram....

Returns Saturday, what does everyone think of her in this spot?
I thought she was vulnerable and at least 4 of these could beat her.

randallscott35 08-07-2009 01:03 PM

She should be very vulnerable but I'm not leaving her off my ticket.

FYI,

In todays version of Talkin' Horses from the NYRA website, Andy Serling mentioned he couldn't wait to bet against her tomorrow. He didn't elaborate today but I'm sure he'll give details on the show tomorrow.

Hmmmmmmmmm.................

I think Andy's right but its doesn't mean she still can't win. I wouldn't bet her straight but on a spread Pick 4 I have to include her.

She's beating me. The Mott might be ok.

Every horse is vulnerable in every race. Of course you should always look at the odds and determine if you are getting the value that you think you should but I really think some people take the concept of not playing a horse simply because it's a favorite a little too far. I mean, favorites do win sometimes.

I saw she won, but didn't watch to see if it actually ran a lot better than how weak it looked on paper. There has to be rivals or a bias or a distance or something otherwise it's just a possible slight underlay.

LOL... I wont comment.

I was wrong about her, I still think any trip handicapper will tell you that the 2,10 might have been best.

I actually had the 5 and 8....wouldve loved the 5 to beat Maram

randallscott35 08-08-2009 06:22 PM

Nice hit bud. I would've been alive to Miss Dolan's Rose had I played my ticket which was 96 bucks but I didn't end up playing and would've lost in the last sixteenth anyway which might have made me ill so glad somebody here hit it.

I never said you did not hit, I was talking about Maram. I just did not like her much, she beat me out of a few plays.
Nice hit.

Nice hit.

In all honesty, I spent about 3 minutes 'capping it and putting the bet together. I actually liked the 5 but thought Maram was the most likely winner on paper...but...but...I don't really follow NY racing so I'm sure there were a multitude of reasons why others made more sense. I just got lucky.

I did, however, have a legitimate angle on Flashing...so the hit wasn't all pure luck.

Well done on the ticket and congratulations because luck was on your side...but what was your angle on Flashing?

Only one that would make much sense would be the turn-back, right?

One of my absolutely favorite angles and it's an angle that has been the KEY in the three biggest payoffs of my life.

I look for any runner that has been routing, preferably at 1 mile 70 or 1 mile 1/16 and has good early speed, preferably sitting right on the pace, not neccesarily setting the pace and cutting back to either 6 1/2 or 7 furlongs.

It kind of makes sense. They can get into the race early enough without having to be overly exerted and will typically have an acceleartion in mid stretch that other sprinters don't have.

Believe me....that angle works!!! Put it in your bag.

I liked Flashing a lot. So did Andy and a few others on here.

I'm sure NTAMM is familiar w/ that angle.
