Pictures of Rachel Alexandra at Monmouth July 31 2009
Going to give this a try. Below should be a link to the site "photobucket.com" I posted pictures there of Rachel Alexandra today at Monmouth. Those in the ring came out nice. Those in the stall are a little dark

Say what you will about Asmussen and Jackson, they do a great job turning a horse out and preparing for the big day. RA schooled at PIM they day before the Preakness and BEL the day before the Mother Goose. The operation works like claockwork, everyone very calm, like taking ol' Dobbin for a walk in the park.
Thanls for the photos. The filly looks great, alert and relaxed and happy to be wherever she is. |

I am guessing Asmussen was able to overcome what a tough filly she was in the morning without a hitch...Right Steve? LOL |
Not a matter of remembering to feed and gallop her, the point is how easily and efficiently such a big barn can operate. I've been around the backstretch alot and seen many barns and few are as efficient as his, Pletcher's and DWL's come to mind.
I've seen handlers "paddock schooling" horses and clearly the handler is a nervous wreck about leading a "big horse" through a crowd. That sure won't help calm the horse if it is nervous. There is a calm efficiency in Steve's barn. It is rare to see his horses act up or his handlers get ruffled. |
thanks for posting!
