Rachel will win by 5 at 1 1/8th here.. dont care how confident Pletcher is with Munnings.. and Summer Bird has no shot on this kind of track.

Her speed is just too much for the others to handle.

Even the best make tragic errors in this rotten business. I knew and posted Gio Ponti would give Ventura fits in their last DH out here. Well Ventura will never be the same if she ever runs again and I'm a dumb egomaniac.

Another case where broodmare value is meaningless. Any offspring stays right with Juddmonte, so even if she won the head bob nothing would have been gained. Garrett gallantly took the bad beat on his shoulders but she never belonged in their anyway. Blah...........

Off topic but how are those pigeons on the 11th floor ledge doing anyway? ;) :p

Yep, plenty of other races at a mile on the turf for females with a $300,000 purse in March to choose from. What the hell were they thinking?

I sold everything out of this rotten business April 30th. Should have done it 25 years ago. I'd probably own the Carlyle by now. Doing well with the Union Plaza anyway.

I almost used your pic in the bikini for my avatar but it's X rated.:{>:

B...

In the event Affectionately (she's Happy T here but pretty much sticks to lurking) and I hit Del Mar on Sunday, we shall drink a birthday toast to you.

Rutherienne has a lot of weight. Is it too much?

not hard to understand at all-she's arguably the best 3 yo this year, she belongs in the top races. she's certainly shown she can handle the colts.
also, i think jess is wanting the top of the distaff earnings list with her-a win in a million dollar race gets you to the top much quicker than any 300k race.

Great card, glad I flew back from Denver for the weekend. Should be a blast.

Antitrust32 07-31-2009 09:37 AM

holy cow.. this race is not on cable tv.

big blow to horse racing.

letswastemoney 07-31-2009 10:41 PM

At what pole will Borel be doing cartwheels on RA?

Pedigree Ann 08-01-2009 07:03 AM

Looking at the PPs, Munnings hasn't ever been a 'speed on the lead' sort of horse the way Rachel is. In his only mile races (and only one of these was around 2 turns), he sat back a couple of lengths off the lead and it seems unlikely winning a couple of sprints from that same sort of position will change his style. Rachel should have the front end all to herself and we know what she can do in that position.

The idea that fillies/mares shouldn't run with colts/stallions/geldings is laughable. If not for the proliferation of races for females only in this country, we would see the Gallorettes, Affectionatelies, and Personal Ensigns of our time out there bashing males all the time. It is done all over the world, yes, even in Canada (fillies were on the board in the two legs of their triple crown already run this year).

Anyone know where Rutherienne is running today?

No surprise this coming from me but Summer Bird is a very good horse, I wouldn't underestimate him.
