That is crazy.
What is the largest 5 of 6 that you have seen?

chucklestheclown 07-17-2009 09:44 PM

The 8th and 9th are singles. Where is the sixth leg?

JerseyJ 07-17-2009 10:02 PM

9th is most definately not a single...Hero's Reward can win and is the horse to beat but Yield Bogey absolutely can win here.

Please tell me who you're singling in these two races. Then tell me if you've looked at the PPs.

I see two in the 5th: Grapple and Close to the Vest

In the 6th, you could use a handful, or get courageous (or stupid) and single So It Goes.

In the 7th, I wasn't impressed with Dressed to Win's last effort, although leaving her out is difficult. I will be using Bella Cherokee, who may be a strong play if she can rate, Tutti Va Bene, and maybe AP Light.

Just two in the 8th, Fiddler's Afleet and Close Encounter.

The Jaiur is interesting, using Heros Reward, Due Date and Le Grand Cru.

The 3 ml fave's look best in the last (although I might be better off just using the 3 slowest horses based on previous last race turf sprint results), Rosies Run, GoGo Bar and Private Battle.

T/F,

That's as big as I can recall. Likely larger ones historically in CA I imagine, but this was obviously as good for the individual as hitting the 6 itself. In some ways, better, because they get paid and have bankroll to attack the $500k+ pot that will be out there today!

Belmont Park - Saturday, July 18th, 2009

1 - #1 Dose of Reality
Pace setters are winning at 44% for the meet at this distance and are 6/10 this week. I think the Contessa horse gets it done on the front.

2 - #1A R Fast Favorite
Again he will be on the front end in this race. He is a quitter but I am going to stick with the bias for this week at 6 furlongs. (Coa/Chatterpaul?)

3 - #4 Olive Eye
Looks to be the filly to beat in this small group. The #5 Ciminella will likely get the lead and I think the one moving best late will be the #3 Elaine's Pride but I think she will be too far back to contend. That's why I gave the edge to #4 who should sit just off.

4 - #3 Drift King
I think he has the kick to clear these at 6f. He will be tiring late but I think he hangs on.

5 - #4 Four Star General
Not really super confident in the #9 on the outside as the favorite, so I leaned to the 4. Coming on the MCL25k state bred victory on July 1st. Think he can do it again here.

6 - #8 Yankee Empire
I gave the edge to this one because of the victory over this turf course. Should be the second choice most likely.

7 - #1 Royal Vessel
In a race with some really unsuccessful turfers, I leaned to the longshot on the inside trying for the first time. Breeding is decent for grass (TOM=317)

8 - #3 Fiddler's Afleet
Banking on this one flying from off the pace. As opposed to 6f front runners at 7f are only winning at 15%. Benefits the 3.

9 - #4 Due Date
I think the key with this one will be the speed towards the end of the race. I think the 4 based on some of the intervals on Formulator Web will have a good opportunity to beat the favorite. Added was the Formulator info the Andy and Eric added up Capuano shippers.

10 - #8 Go Go Bar
I think a placing is as close to a safe bet as you can get. She will have to run down a couple but I think she does it easily.

I'm feeling pretty good about the 5th through the 8th, but those last two races have given me the yips. I'm not sold on Heros Reward as a single, but figuring out who will beat him is giving me a headache. The last is a mess too. Go Go Bar may win easily, or she may run second....again. I am toying with leaving her off completely, but then I have the same problem as I have in the 9th. Who's going to beat her?

pmacdaddy 07-18-2009 12:33 PM

Totally agree on the 9th. I was either a single or minimum 3/4 deep...

Ended up going with a pk6 single and take my chances, will cover pretty extensively in the pk4 (1,4,5). If can clear the first 2 legs at least I will save $$ not having to play an AA pk4.

Rosie's Run is dead set in the 10th. Absolute lone speed, and ran a 75 BSF first time out for a 23% turf sprint trainer as a 2YO. Toss the last on dirt, don't see anyone who can go with her early...she's long gone here.
