Should this great stallion come to Erie?

When I get some free time here in a little bit .. I'm going to check and see who the all-time leading stallion by wins is in Presque Isle Downs history.

Most likely it's a stallion named Cozar.

As you can see ... as a race horse, he probably couldn't outrun Bernie..

Just 1-for-14 lifetime on dirt ... and that lone win coming in a 5K claiming non-winners of one in 2 years race at Turfway, with the great Angela Owens up.

However, Cozar was a spectacular 3-for-17 lifetime on the turf.

His offspring struggle on conventional dirt surfaces ... and that's a big reason why trainer Glenn Wismer is 1-for-130 at Tampa over the last 2 meets. Including a Don Larson like 0-for-61 meet this year.

However, at Presque Isle, Wismer transforms into a super trainer each year. His barn, full of Cozar's, turn into beasts on synthetic.

I'm hopeful that a sharp business decision is made in the coming months .. and Cozar is moved from Kentucky (where he currently stands for the ultra reasonable sum of $3,000) to Erie.

What are Wismer's numbers at the PID?

The Indomitable DrugS 07-14-2009 11:27 PM

31 for 134 - 23% wins - $3.39 ROI

Compared to Tampa where, for the past two meets, he's ...

1 for 130 - 0.7% wins - $0.03 ROI

He's basically Arthur Wendell in the South and Bobby Frankel in the North.

While beating both Bet Twice and Gulch in the same race and winning the Kentucky Oaks might seem like a couple of great training achievements ... winning races with a bunch of Cozar offspring makes this truly his finest hour.

plus bernie just declared bankruptcy

The great question is does Grunder refer to Wismer as "High Percentage Trainer"

The best thong about this thread was seeing Angela Owens name in te PP's again.
