Do you have a favorite Claimer?

Mine is Sinbad the Sailor.

On Sunday the 11 year old will make his 93 start and he still tries hard managing to pick up a check most of the time. Good luck Sinbad!

Good luck to him!

My list is waaaaay too long but first one that comes to mind is the illustrious and very, very fast Mr. Shortcake.

Not the greatest horse who ever lived but I'm a fan.

Mine is Pamela Andersen even thru viral disease she manages to be smokin hot and ULTRA Doable whenever in public. Plus who can't remember those G1 tapes of her and Tommy?

If they were G1 videos does she belong in this thread? :p

Iron Gavel.. among about 100 others..

fpsoxfan 07-09-2009 09:25 PM

Mine was always Chokesondick. She always gave it everything she could.

My fav was Diligent Gambler...then again I am partial as I was part owner and he won more races in 2006 than any horse in USA

Zaf 07-09-2009 10:53 PM

Ron,

DG was a great warrior !

CSC 07-09-2009 11:38 PM

I'm kind of partial to Zippy Chippy's 100-0-8-12 record.

ShadowRoll 07-10-2009 07:23 AM

He's not always been a claiming horse, but I've followed Spooky Mulder for some time.

84 Starts, 34 Wins, 17 Places, 4 Shows
Career Earnings: $949,468 (as of 5/30/09)

Some things I've read on this site have caused me concern about whether he's running past the point of where its safe for him to do so, but I have to admit that I don't know enough about the particulars in his case (nor, frankly, about horse care in general) to hold that opinion myself. If he runs again at Delaware, I hope I get the chance to see him.

What a beautiful photo!

Sindbad the Sailor raced in the Saratoga MSW that was won by Macho Uno. Not sure why I recall that, but there you are.

I love old Spooky and in his day Arromanches. There are alot of old timers in KY that just seem to keep on going forever.

Clip-Clop 07-10-2009 10:16 AM

Call the Marines at Monmouth.

Gander 07-10-2009 10:23 AM

Boom Towner.

Diligent Gambler and Arromanches were both awesome too. Hard knockers, game old campaigners.

Federal Funds, Jacksonport, Lottsa Talc, Moonopoly. Back when horses actually ran enough to instill a reason to love and follow.

There was an old boy who used to show up at Charles Town all the time by the name of Longfield Spud. Mostly ran in low level stuff, but always had guts and would even make the occasional WV-bred stakes appearance.
