How about saving a few mil by removing most, if not all, of the newer BC races?

And stop wasting so much money on useless marketing gimmicks!

Oh come on, Win (a race only on the west coast) and pay us all of your fees and you're in! is a GREAT idea.

They deserve a lot of credit for single handedly screwing up the Breeders Cup every way they can think of over the last two years or so.

Back to back BC's at Santa Anita on that goofy surface out there. The addition of several useless races to water down the card. The two day gender themed format.

It's as though they wanted to do everything in their power to sabotage the Breeders Cup and turn the greatest day in racing into a barely watchable joke.

triple the nomination. i agree with all of this. barely watchable and not very bettable with the exception of the grass racing. they won't get enough revenue to pay SA again this year. people are getting fed up and it will only be worse this year! plus, in a way, i question if its good for racing. horses used to have to face each other numerous times to become champion. now its wait and avoid for that one day that might be run on a questionable surface. whether it rains, its on poly or dirt the surface will be an issue. one race over one track is just ridiculous. kill it and divide the money up to the other races so theres an actual season of competition. and please stop dissing NY! i think they are jealous because that as bad as things are nyra still has the best summer racing! whats their beef with NY?

the_fat_man 07-07-2009 05:08 PM

I don't have a problem with the BC at SA. The best EURO's come over and are not at a disadvantage. All the FAST dirt horses get to stay home. Thoroughbred dirt racing is the only type of race where the front runner has an unfair advantage. Arguing for dirt is arguing against physics. Repeat after me DIRT fans : "I can win on POLY if I just stop playing the game the old way."

Seeing as you have the ability to think and type what you are thinking, you have made yourself ineligible.

Sorry.

That is poly too!

pba1817 07-07-2009 11:46 PM

I think if they added a 3rd BC day it would fix all of the problems.

Don't these races have a nice ring to them...?

All first time starter G1

The 2F Turf Sprint

The Righthand Dirt mile

The Double Classic, 5F on Turf, 5F on Dirt(logistically could be a nightmare)

Very nice!!

I nominate you to the ruling committee!

I think they should have a "win a game of cornhole and pick any horse in your barn for the BC Classic" contest.

Take the top 64 trainers in the national standings and have them throw the cornhole bag in the cornhole with a picture of goatse as the backdrop.

Single elimination. Top 16 make the race. 9-16 110 lbs 8-5 114 lbs 4-3 140 lbs 2nd 150 lbs 1st 160 lbs.

So, your idea would encourage these trainers to do well enough to get in, but not so well that they pack on the high weight?

I think you should have the weights done in reverse order, so as to avoid any possible conflicts of....

Oh, nevermind. I like your idea!

slotdirt 07-08-2009 11:48 AM

The double classic would be a pretty fun race. I'm at least half serious.

The only way I would accept a track announcer/jockey agent is if they were a Wayans brother playing a Jamaican.

I believe Canterbury had a dirt and turf race run simutaneously on their card last year...........how about the BC Classic and the Turf being run that way at SA !!!!!!!!!!

Maybe they could time the start of the races so the Classic horses hit the top of the stretch at the same time the Turf horses have to cross over the main track. Should appeal to the NASCAR fans.
