When he ran on a Friday night at Hollywood the TVG talking heads were falling all over themselves about him. He looked OK against a nothing field after contesting a hot pace. I still remember him stopping on a dime in his debut (and his only dirt race).

It's funny, until I saw his pps the other day, I had forgotten about him. I remember him losing his debut after hearing he was Zayat's supposed best 2YO.

That just made me think of Maimonides. Did he ever make it past two starts?

Unfortunately, the name of Zensational's dam was already used and that's a shame because it fits Zayat and his horses to a T.

Just received and e-mail the other day stating that he had worked out.

I remember his debut. He cost me and I haven't forgotten it! He folded up bad on the wet track on opening day. He reappeared in Cali with Baffert. He folded up again in one of his allowance races.

The Indomitable DrugS 06-09-2009 03:15 PM

He ran a monster race in that allowance route he fell apart in.

If that race was from the finish line to the quarter pole he'd be hailed right now as one of the biggest future stars out there.

Zensational has to be one of the best bred horses to ever sell for $20,000 at public auction and actually go on to run fast.

Hot pace, I believe it was the fastest pace of the meet and the final time of 114 and change is very solid. What was he supposed to do to look better?

The Indomitable DrugS 06-09-2009 04:13 PM

Yeah - he'll be fine on dirt.

Mott trained him in his debut and it's not extreme speed types like him who are the kind that perform better on syn than dirt.

He did resell for 700k though a mere five to six months later however.

Pretty weird.
