Harold Carmichael to NY, Sciacca

On the heels of Rampillion moving to Linda Albert in Maryland to campaign in the Mid-Atlantic region this summer, we're pleased to announce that HAROLD CARMICHAEL has been sent to New York joining Gary Sciacca's string. Barring any setbacks, the son of Smarty Jones will be prepared by Gary and assistant Paul Barone for a start at the end of the current Belmont meet, at Saratoga, Monmouth or Philadelphia.

This move opens up a third regional front for Dee Tee and gives rise to races at more than a dozen possible venues from Richmond, VA to Des Moines, IA! It also gets Gary started with Dee Tee in advance of the New York bred Hook and Ladder yearling filly he will have with us next year. Gary and his staff are a great fit for Dee Tee as they will happily accomodate visits to Barn 60 at Belmont and his easily accessed barn at Saratoga.

Can't wait to see him in NY. Ryan will miss him - I hear his gate training has been going well.

Great to have a Dee Tee runner based in NY. :)

For me personally, this is the best Dee Tee news since we had Sumwon run at Saratoga, to have one of ours run on the New York circuit could not be more exciting!! :tro:

Totally agree with you Nick!

VERY cool...

Any word on when he will be hitting the track?

I drive right past Belmont on my way to work everyday and would love the chance to watch some workouts.

Welcome to the land of misfit toys!

I do miss Harold quite a bit, but I know he'll enjoy New York!

Was by Barn 60 this morning to see Harold go out. He's been out daily and his new morning rider likes him a lot saying about him, in slightly broken English, 'nice colt... very classy... moves good... little scared of the new places'. That struck me as a positive impression.

Those visiting Belmont will find him on the 'other side' of the big shed. Gary has all of the stalls on the trackside row and 4 stalls on the inside row where Dan Pietz is housed. Gary's assistant Paul Barone will be happy to arrange for Dee Tee visitors.

I stopped by the barn yesterday on my way to the track. Gary had just left, but Paul was very gracious and took time to "introduce" me to Harold Carmichael.

Paul said that Harold might breeze this morning (Sunday)

Indeed, Harold breezed a sharp :24.2 quarter as part of a tandem gallop with a big Prime Timber NY bred colt. When the pair broke off, Harold, who is considerably smaller than his workmate, was a half length behind. He dug in through the lane to get on even terms at the wire and got past him in the subsequent gallop-out eighth. While not a super serious effort, it struck me as a rather encouraging little display.

Gary reported yesterday that Harold C. came out of the brief work in fine order, and will continue on a regular worktab progression.

Good old #17 from the Eagles...like the name!

Thanks for the updates, Steve. I cannot wait to see this one get on the track!

Whoever gets to visit Harold next, please please please give him a kiss from me. I miss his little stinky face.
