Cloning

This is creepy to me, but I was just reading how Olympian, Mark Watring cloned his gelded show jumper Sapphire so he could continue to ride the horse, but have an intact "Sapphire" for breeding.

I find it strange that anyone would think
a clone is the same individual.

I cloned my blow-up dolls - but you are right each one has a different personality

LOL ......

Cloning gives one a reasonable assurance of a (probably-almost) duplicate genetic copy, but how those genes are expressed can vary markedly.

Very much so.
I just find it funny that some people want to be cloned
after they die so they can live again...?

What the heck do they think an individual is?

I always thought it was genetics with a large dose
of very specific individual events experienced in utero,
through childhood, an so on. And the events can be chemical
or physical events. The sum of one's life up to that point.
A unique individual has always been the sum
total of an impossibly unique set
of events impinged upon a genetic sequence
and most importantly, a unique nervous system in humans.

And then of course we have the small problem of what consciousness
is... How in the world do people actually think that "they" will live again?
What the heck do they define as an individual, what do they think
makes them, them?

I am perplexed as to what people are thinking.

So it is possible that a cloned Smooth Operator could be posting on a daily bases:

" Failed Obama- Biden economic policies...." ?

Actually I dont think thats possible.
You are born Republican, Democrat, or stupid.

I feel comfortable in the later role.

All I know is that I have tail-hairs from Secretariat, Unbridled, et. al. - so when we can take that DNA and make a duplicate horse, I've got a ready-made stable ;)

Why don't you rather clone Tony, so you have someone extra for yardwork, etc? ;)
