Sell Your Racehorse!

So...your three year old has just won the Kentucky Derby and is 4-5 lifetime. A perfectly bred colt with impeccable conformation and virility that would make Golden Missile blush, you are looking to sell him and your agent has been working the phones day and night. You have three incredible offers, all very similar in money and terms. All three sales are for 100% of the horse and all have indicated that the "House" trainer would be taking over. Your only choice is...who to sell to? So...given the choices of IHEAH/Dutrow, Sheik Mo/bin Suroor or Jackson/Assmussen...who gets the Colt and why?

Sheik Mo/bin Suroor ........... He Has the Most money by miles & miles & miles

Would sell to the Sheiks. .

They are in my eyes the lesser of the three evils I would think... (course what do I know? I don't think before I type  )

At least they seem to take good care of their horses..

Let's see...How about which ever group pays the most.. Why is it so bad to sell your horse or horses anyway? It's not like selling your daughter to the shiek to be his sex slave..I don't get the whole issue..

People get romantically involved in these animals and although I am sure you can have a horse as a pet and that horse can bring you great pleasure, typically those aren't racehorses.. I am sure plenty of folks become attached to the horse that they ride and work with daily. I would think those horses are a lot tougher to sale and leave then a fast filly who you can bearly pet.

Jackson/Assmussen -

Keep the horse in the good ol' US of A

miraja2 05-07-2009 08:12 AM

I'd sell him to Sheik Mo for two reasons:

1) Dutrow
2) Assmussen

I'd sell it to Ernie P - but only as long as Mullins gets to train it.

Bob I really don't know. I guess it would be to IEAH only because I am guess some of the people in the partnership are OK.. I think Dutrow while a cheat is funny SOB and most likely a superior horseman.. Assuming all things equal IEAH

dellinger63 05-07-2009 09:30 AM

IEAH and hope the gelding turns out to be a huge flop

brianwspencer 05-07-2009 09:42 AM

It wouldn't be IEAH, I know that.

Would weigh how much Jackson annoys me at times and how much I dislike Mr. Steve against how much Dubai disgusts me, but how much more I'd rather have my horse with them as far as their being horsemen goes.

OK, I fold. I think I'd be more disappointed in myself if I sold to Godolphin.

Jackson gets him.

Coach Pants 05-07-2009 10:02 AM

Hell I'd sell the horse to Iranian President Imadinnerjacket if the price was right.

same here

Sell to Sheikh Mo...Most money, and a good chance the horse won't do anything after sale.
