not necessarily true.

for example at yonkers tonite in the 6th race, the selection is #4 squeeze play. 6-1 odds.

"has raced well in both outings and might be good enough to beat the likely favorite"

The first to selections that you posted were Best Bets from paper's handicapper. Tonight's example looks like a ramdom pick that happens to have decent odds.
People see BEST BET in the paper and think it's a lock and they hammer the horse down. Last night's horse was 4-1 ML and was sent off at 4/5.

Do you follow/bet Yonkers and have an opinion of the race? Or are you just trying to hit something on the blind with comments from the newspaper?

i like tom c's analysis. tonites card is not a good example and his commentary is pretty standard. most times he really questions and defeats the morning line. i also like pandolfos picks for the meadowlands.

but sure i do "try to hit something on the blind with comments from the newspaper". why not?

why am i going to try to handicap a race card when he does it for me? i am fortunate enough to have a full time job!

do you go to yonkers?

No I used to play once in a while. If I do decide to play trotters it would be at the Meadowlands.
There's nothing wrong with trying to hit/play something on the blind. I would be lying if I said that I have never did it. You do understand that any value that the horse might have, goes right out the window when it's selected (especially as a best bet) in the newspaper.

But I guess my question is, why do you feel the need to post it?

Rich,

in my opinion Bill Smith is pretty good as well - he's in the ny post his top picks for tonight are

1)1 8)1
2)6 9)1
3)7 10)2
4)2 11)2
5)2 12)6
6)5 13)2
7)3- best bet

Do these guys match on anything?

Harness is a bit spotty around here, since the Baron of Balmoral hung up his cape.
Speaking for myself, I appreciate when people post their picks and put up their opinions. It's not easy and it's a lot of work. It also takes some guts. But I like seeing the way other people play and some of their angles. I can honestly say I have learned things around here.
That being said, I'm not sure what anyone could get out of the posts with the best bet picks of a newspaper handicapper. If someone was playing Yonkers tonight, this is information they would already know and have.

I just think people appreciate and would maybe even use if the picks/angles that you post were your own. As opposed to posting probable even money shots out of the paper.
Just my 2 cents

i like throughbreds better but living near the meadowlands makes keep up with the pacers.

i dont like picking because i only want to be responsible for my own suffering.

as far as angles go i like when high percentage jockeys fail as the favorite. then they come back in the next race on a favorite or 2 or 3rd choice. thats when i take them. i wait for them to lose first.

they may not win but they come in the money a lot.
