I have no clue how he stayed on! That was unreal!

Talamo has ice water in his veins. Nearly pitched out the side when she clipped heels, righted himself, goes back to riding and wins the race. Alysheba redux.

Shades of the 2005 Preakness...

Eric Donovan needs to watch this race.

booner 04-23-2009 06:46 PM

What a race. I called 2 friends and they were speechless themselves.

Amazing.

letswastemoney 04-23-2009 06:48 PM

Vic - nice call, did that get your heart racing?

Heels1989 04-23-2009 07:23 PM

Just watched that replay. Great call by Vic. My heart was pumping for sure.

ninetoone 04-23-2009 07:46 PM

Some job staying aboard by Joe, let alone rallying to win the race. But I think it's amazing that he couldn't find a clean trip with only 4 other horses in the race and then he tried to force through a hole that might not have been there.

Coach Pants 04-23-2009 07:57 PM

The best part about the races today at Hollywood was needing that horse to stay alive in the pick 4 and then hoping that one of the 3 mules I have in the traditional bottom level maiden claimer in the finale come through for me. Now granted I had the first and second choice along with the 4...but noooo they don't even run in the top 4.

I just love Hollywood Park and SoCal racing. They really know how to shake things up with the maiden claimer to end the card every single god damn day they run. Or at least 95% of the time. I figure the only qualification to be racing secretary out there is to not drool more than 32 ounces a day.

ninetoone 04-23-2009 07:57 PM

You think 19 other horses is going to present a problem?

herkhorse 04-23-2009 07:58 PM

wow indeed, great call

could have circled the field with all that horse he had

You were alive in the pick 4 at that point?
Some great handicapping to get that far. That f*ckin blows. My hats off to you anyways.

The MCL finale gets old. I almost automatically assume I'm going to have to use half the field when I'm playing a multirace wager out there.

Yeah I'll make a copy of it tonight. That's the 2nd painful beat in pick 4's this year. I can't take many more of those.

No need- I feel you. I'm still lamenting missing the last leg of the pick 4 on Ashland Day after talking myself off the winner. Paid $48k to her.

Keep on putting yourself in good situations and it will pay off.
