Just What Was Missing At Aqu

After what has been just about the BEST few months of racing at ANY track in the country, NYRA cards its 1st baby race of the year tomorrow.

Just love those 2-4.5F races.

Way to Go:tro:

7, plus 2 today and 2 tomorrow.

I don't bet 'em this early but they gotta start somewhere.

But Keeneland has POLY.

Which makes those 2yo races entirely playable for everyone.

AQU the past few weeks (especially) is pretty much a JOKE. They're taking races off the turf with a few more days to go in the meet. WTF are they saving the course for? So, off the turf today, again, and a baby race makes for EVEN LESS races to bet. The only way it gets worse is if I actually focused on the track and were forced to play there.

As for TRAKUS, I don't get all the negative comments on the boards. Don't people want MORE ACCURATE DATA? Of course, TRAKUS as a norm makes BEYER figs pretty much irrelevant. Can't have that now, can we?

My post is more sarcastic than anything. Trakus (Trackus?) is a wonderful tool. I've looked into installing it here at LAD, unfortunately, it's extremely expensive... as in, big track only expensive right now.

April in NY is typically a horrible month.. All the winterized stock is spent and the solid operations that will be her in days are finishing up at keeneland. What is the world would you have NYRA do? IMO they should close 3/15 and re open at Belmont after Keeneland breaks, but there are at least a few operations that need to earn and I guess not having a paycheck for 6 weeks would be incrediblely harmful??? In all candor we all know the races have been comical but again the stock just does not come up for a few weeks...

As for the turf I would imagine its all about safety and not about the adverse effects on the turf..

I love two year old racing nothing is more inspiring then watching the future of racing... Do I really need to see 8750 claimers...BTW who the fcuk decided to write that race?

Freddy

AQU turf racing, fall and spring, is about as UNPREDICTABLE as it gets.

I was out at Prospect Park earlier, running in the grass. Should I have taken the day off? Could I've hurt myself?

$6,286.40 claiming races can't be too far off.

Huh?

I love Trakus .. but I don't see how it would make final time speed figures irrelevant.

This should be really good....

I believe that is because it's actually the exchange rate of a EUR 5K race because, you know, we are trying to appeal our races to that side of the pond- thus the impetus for the Kentucky Derby Challenge Stakes.

Beyer number gives me a number for the race, with no concern for ground coverage or setup. It's a number for the RACE at, in almost all cases, an ABOUT distance. (This could vary by up to 10 lengths or so.) This is fine and is tailored for the available data.

The data just got better, however. Trakus allows for accurate feet-per-second numbers (accurate timing and ground coverage). So, there can be cases, for example, where the winner ran SLOWER than a horse, or horses, behind it. But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Trakus allows us to look at the race differently. Think about what you can do with pace. How your approach to setups would change if you actually had concrete data to work with. Think about the time saved watching races. etc.

This is composed on the fly and we can discuss it in more detail if you want.

GP has 8 turf races today.

Well, the good news is that, in result of course, we were able to give out the important information on today's race.

Good hit on the baby race. You were all over this one.

Nice. Seems like this is the time to start standing against the Ward 2yo's. He's the A-Rod of 2yo racing, hits everything in April yet hardly makes an impact after that.

*edit* yet he did win the 1st at KEE. It's still April.
