big improvement to the ky derby

from bris:

Churchill Downs and toy company Mattel have teamed up to create the Kentucky Derby Barbie doll. The iconic doll will showcase legendary Derby fashion, dressed in a floral sun dress, faux pearl necklace and spring sandals. True to Derby fashion, the doll's look will be topped off with a stylish, oversized white hat with blossoming flower accents. Churchill and Mattel are also giving Barbie enthusiasts and collectors to own a life-sized Kentucky Derby Barbie replica hat.

Do they really think that's going to outsell a Justin Dew action figure?

Easily, I hear the Justin Dew action figures are counterfeits from China, thus they aren't the real Justin Dew dolls.

eajinabi 04-02-2009 11:32 PM

This is an improvement? how?

DerbyCat 04-02-2009 11:40 PM

Does the Justin Dew action figure come with the kung fu grip or the playful floral sun dress? I can't remember... :zz:

Just kidding Justin, I know you're all G. I. Joe!!!

NTamm1215 04-03-2009 08:29 AM

I heard the likeness of John Asher will be used as a Ken doll.

How does the Miami Vice unshaven look translate on the Dew doll?

philcski 04-03-2009 09:19 AM

Can we get a model which flashes the crowd when prompted?

A) That is just my head, not my body or suit.
B) I am ALWAYS clean shaven. I have a goatee, but that's it.
C) I am much better looking than this pic would indicate.

wait, is it pre-derby barbie, or post-derby barbie? pre-derby she'd look like a million bucks.

post-derby? bloodshot eyes, sunburned, carrying shoes because her heels have blisters, mud on her legs...

yeah, i'd imagine mattel is going with early in the day barbie!
