Didn't they run this race a few weeks ago?

Mike 04-02-2009 07:13 PM

I like who Skipadate ran with as a 2 year old on turf. I'll take him at 6-1 and up in Friday's Transylvania

What A Pear will remain undefeated in the Ashland

He's running Sunday in a N1X on the weeds that looks like as tough a race as this is.

I wouldn't go that far. Very surprised TAP didnt give it a go since he didnt have another entry for the Tranny.

NTamm1215 04-02-2009 10:04 PM

Right, I'm saying that the N1X is as tough as this race, so he clearly should have gone in the graded stake. TAP may be being overly cautious.

I mean afterall, he did work on even terms with Dunkirk. (under slightly more urging)

All joking aside I think he is a very talented horse, just wonder why the kid gloves?

It's pretty incredible that they would pass on an opportunity to win the Transylvania. I mean, seriously, winning that would increase his value by millions and guarantee him a huge stud deal.

What exactly is the big hurry? He's a turf horse.....no reason to ruin him in pursuit of a non-existant holy grail.

I just thought after his maiden win that it was a no-brainer to try him in one of the rich Poly Stakes for 3yo's. I thought Todd would look to the Lanes End (G2), Bluegrass (G1), or the Lexington (G3?, G2?). With the suspect field that is slated for the Bluegrass, I think he would be very tough. Which would increase his value somewhat.

I think Todd may go the English Channel route with him. There is alot of :$: :$: to be won at Colonial Downs this summer.

Speaking of Pletcher turf horses, I thought Kinsella ran a very nice debut race at Gulfstream a few weeks ago. Looking forward to watching this one develop, too.

changes up off the turf in 5th

Affirmatif
Either the horse is good or he isn't. If you can't beat that bunch who really cares? However, If Affirmative likes to run on the lead, Keeneland's poly might not be as favorable as grass. Running style matters with the surface. Why run him on the polytrack if he wants to run early??
However, If that race comes off, and Pletcher doesn't scratch him, then he's worth playing against, and Pletch loses that explanation.

Stardom Bound
The Ashland was supposed to be the great bet against, where you could build your bankroll for the Kentucky Derby. Then Dutrow went and got a 1:12 3/5ths work over the keeneland track... Kind of ruins the weekend. It's so hard when he gets a new horse. And you've got to think they aren't thinking long term - she's slipping and they wan't her at her best for this. Dutrow is using his best stuff here. She's still a little vulnerable, but she will be improved from her last, and this field sucks. Gozzip Girl and maybe one of the SA Oaks will like this track... I'm not even playing now.

Stardom Bound suckssss

Sightseek 04-04-2009 09:20 PM

Stardom bound was looking very thin.

Bobby Fischer 04-04-2009 09:28 PM

That tri and exacta felt light, but they weren't betting the other pools like they did the win pool. Can't complain for less than $30 bet in the morning.
On Friday speed was holding up, and the kickback seemed to be bothering horses. Everybody wanted to jump out and slow it down and it was holding. Now today closers were fairng better. Desormeaux was one of the first to adjust, but luckily in the Ashland they kind of thought the speed was coming back and Lanerie got to go out.
